It is such a joy to visit and shop in Maison Basque...I really feel that I have been transported to the south of France...the fabrics are of great quality and vibrant colours, the accessories are crafted using the fabric are well designed and reasonably priced. Evelyn is so friendly and helpful with design choices...she is incredibly creative, a gem of a woman and a treasure to have in our community. Kudos to her for keeping small businesses alive. Tucked away in the special little hub of independent shops where Jane & Annette meet (Baby Point) in Toronto's west end, this very special store has so much to offer those who uphold the qualities of authenticity, craftsmanship, and artisan-created goods. The basis for everything in this store is the stunning quality of this French-made fabric — impeccable in it's construction/weave as well as the variety & combination of colours that are used. On the topic of colour alone I could write 10 paragraphs, but suffice to say that the brilliance + inspiration of the colours on offer is a feast for the eyes (and the soul). Maison-Basque's fabrics are available for purchase for whatever you might wish to create for indoors or outdoors (they have many suggestions and will craft bespoke items for you) while at the same time, offering a feast of delightful items for sale — bath towels, bedding items, napkins, aprons, carry-alls and bags, personal accessories, etc. It is the ideal place to shop for a gift -- particularly when you want to find something really unique for someone who appreciates quality and style. However...you will find yourself making MANY allowances of a few gifts for yourself as well!

Beautiful, high-quality, striped textiles from France, available in this adorable Toronto store. These are not boring stripes! I bought a yard of fabric and created one of the best tote/hobo bags I’ve ever made! Beautiful fabric, sturdy and semi heavy weight, but very easy to sew. No bulky seam intersections, top stitched easily. You will not be disappointed if you purchase this fabric.

We purchased fabric from Maison Basque to make the back cushion for our banquette. I love the coated fabrics they have because they are wipable and durable and the colours/pattern are beautiful! We also decided to get a coated tablecloth to protect our table. Evelyne was very helpful in the fabric selection process and measuring. I am so happy with the outcome and feel really lucky that we have this special little store in the neighbourhood!

I adore the coated table cloth I purchased from Maison Basque. The fabric is top quality and it was cut and sewn to fit my dining table. It it is well worth the investment for a stylish piece and protection for the table. Evelyne is lovely, friendly and helpful. I don't live in Toronto anymore, but I will travel for her wares.

What a delight to shop in such a warm, welcoming boutique! Evelyne is so caring with her clients. She is obviously passionate about her products, but also about meeting the individual needs of her customers and building relationships. Maison-Basque is my first stop for gift buying. The stripes have so much personality and the fabric is excellent quality. I have purchased many of her products over the years but my favourite is the treated fabric handbags. I have one myself that is indestructible and still stylish. Such a lovely alternative to big box shopping.

Love the colour combos & durability of the fabrics. About to re-upholster the 2nd sofa at our cottage in the brilliant stripes. For me these fabrics are fun & say summer in a happy way. The store is so charming, and truthfully - I wanted one of everything! Quality fabric and craftsmanship unsurpassed in North America. I loved my outdoor front porch curtains and cushions and I've really enjoyed all the compliments from passers-by and neighbours. I commissioned an outdoor lounger and bench cushion late in the season but, now that it's snowy, we mostly sit at our dining table and sigh at the boldly beautiful Basque stripes of our table runner. We dream it's summer again and we look forward to seeing more from Evelyne, the wholly exceptional artisan owner.
