We drove up from Bangor to pick up a senior Yorkie. He'd been dumped off by his peeps 5 days earlier. Thank God they did. We paid 10.00 for this old man and brought him home. He had a small lump on his right rear leg. The aggressive sarcoma grew rapidly in just a few weeks. He went from being a 10.00 pup to a 3000.00 pup because we could afford to do that and he was worth trying to save. Haven't quite had him three months, but this lovable dog is worth every penny and all of the stress of his leg being amputated and the care of him for a couple of weeks of healing while he was in pain that I never had, having given birth to four children. I wrote this to thank you for this little gift. It's an update on a charming little old dog who fills our hearts with joy. All he wants is to be on one of our laps or between us in bed at night. Thank you for one of the best gifts ever. Tons of stars for Desiree whom we were in contact with up until we came up to get him. He had an obvious attachment to her in his 5 days there. He gets attached immediately which is part of his charm. She was professional and friendly and we appreciate her help in getting him.

Very difficult to adopt i’ve Tried multiple times. When they have puppies or really great dogs I find out that they have been promised to friends and family of the people that work there. I’m a Hugh dog lover and supporter of sheltered animals. They also say they do not neuter dogs but yet on Facebook they ask for donation to neuter certain dogs. It’s who you know if you want to adopt a dog there. It’s worth going to the Bangor Humane Society where all dogs are neutered and the staff is simply AMAZING.

Clean facility with caring staff. I have taken donations in and talked with staff. They are doing a wonderful job of taking care of the animals that come through their doors. I recently adopted a kitten from here. He had all his health care papers in order, and I was given a list of local vets to choose from for his free health check. Staff are devoted to providing the animals both physical and emotional care. Highly recommend as a place to go if looking to adopt or able to donate food, blankets, cleaning supplies, etc.

Words fail me. Staff shipping off pets to portland, and flat out refusing to adopt out cats to a forever home. Very suss. Probably a money issue.

Very very helpful and understanding personel. They are friendly and definitely care about the animals that have been entrusted to them. They have lots of knowledge and care tips for any pet that they are very willing to share.

I had to bring a surrender for a family member who couldn't do it; the worker I spoke to on Friday must've forgot to have cages ready for Tuesday. When I went, the woman working didn't know anything about it and had to grab the cages and set them up. I offered to help because I felt awful for her; it was a lot for her to do alone. She let me help, and she was clearly grateful. She was very friendly and patient. The place was clean, smelled of nicely scented cleaner, and had some incredibly cute bracelets and shirts for sale, as well as a ton of animal items. I noticed two dogs outside in a fenced in area where they had a huge space to run. It was beautiful outside and I loved that they were able to be outside and enjoy the fresh air. They had a large sign letting people know not to get near the fence without a worker, which is great. They had a giant poster that mentioned animals are not disposable (not quite in those words), so don't get them if you cannot keep them forever, and I absolutely loved it (ironic since I was doing a surrender, but the circumstances were life or death for the owner and not truly wanted :( ). It was overall a nice place, and there are so many beautiful babies up for adoption. The worker assured me that they do strict background checks, and that they spay and neuter the adoptables. They also socialize the animals to get them ready for adoption. It is a wonderful place and I'm very glad they are in the community to protect the babies who can't protect themselves.

Please adopt, don't shop. The ladies at this shelter love these animals that come in. Some have stories, and some dont, but I do see that these animals are shown nothing but love until they find their furever homes
