This place is great for breakfast. The prices are reasonable, the portions are a good size, and the food is actually quite delicious. Anytime I'm out working in this area this is my go to place for breakfast.

We went for breakfast had the meat lovers benny bowl. Coffee is free refill.For us the benny bowl had alot of potatoes. Only thing for a meat lovers bowl everything was chopped into tiny peices and not verry much of it.It was good but not enough meat and to chopped up.

Tasted great, onions in home fries is an excellent move. Good portion and perfectly cooked eggs. A+ for my first visit.

Rankin's Grill
One of my favourite breakfast places (lunch and dinner good too). Two separate areas with the ability to accommodate a large group. Our Meetup group, Hamilton Foodies eats out weekly at at varying restaurants. Rankin’s is my favourite go to restaurant. I have never had a bad meal nor a cold meal there. Food always fresh tasty and piping hot whether it be breakfast lunch or dinner, small group or large. This is one you just have to try!

Matt was our server and he was professional, efficient, caring and funny. We enjoyed our dinner much more because of his care. Thanks Matt for helping us finally celebrate our belated honeymoon.

Everytime I've visited this restaurant we've had good service and great food. Food is always hot, fresh and delicious!! They have quite a few choices on the menu, and I thoroughly enjoyed their western and fries, but most recently went for breakfast. The waitress recommended the Benny Bowl". It was outstanding! That's the photo I've attached to my review. So good I asked if its served every weekend...yummy!!"

Looking for a breakfast spot in the Hammer and we checked out the usual haunts. Using the power of G maps, we found Rankin's Grill. Living in Hamilton for the last 2 yrs I have never seen this place only finding out its been around since the 50's. Upscale pub feel with lots of seating and a large patio. Friendly and attentive staff. Good sized breakfast menu. Ordered the Rankin Bowl (poached eggs, potatoes, bacon, hollandaise, onions etc). Very tasty! The service was excellent and the atomosphere was welcoming. 5 stars

Friendly service, very clean and welcoming. I got the eggs Benedict. Very tasty. Reasonably priced menu. I saw someone order fish and chips and it looked fantastic. Will have to go back and try it.

Made the mistake of prepaying for a breakfast, waited 45 minutes for it, and it was not even busy, just to have it arrive with both bread slices full of blue mold on the underside. It took a few bitefulls before I realized something was wrong because the butter and jam masked the mold. Waitress acted like she couldn't care less, owner took it back to kitchen to revise, waited another 20 minutes for her to return the now cold food, was starved by that point, she refused to offer even a discount for this. I was too timid to demand a refund and leave to eat elsewhere from the start, but it's what I should've done, but I was too hungry and now pressed for time at this point. I've worked in restaurants and this is unacceptable. Breakfasts only take minutes to arrive to table and flawlessly, not over an hour in total even when it's slow, and full of mold with no offer of compensation. I don't get it, it is too bad because I would have liked to return there because it is convenient and the atmosphere seemed cozy.
