Rita arranged for her team to come to my home to declutter some rooms. They did a great job. The ladies on the team came on time, had a plan, were hardworking and considerate. As a lawyer in Toronto, I suddenly found that I was looking after the finances under a power of attorney for an elderly client who was slipping into dementia. I was introduced to Alivio Downsizing through a retirement home and what a stroke of luck that was. Through the experience and guidance of Rita at Alivio Downsizing, and with the surprising help of some friends and neighbours, an enormous job which was about to overwhelm me became manageable. Alivio Solutions was incredibly helpful with my Dad's move to an assisted living facility. They moved all of his items with care and assisted in getting his room set up, including reassembling his bed and his dresser. They were flexible on the time for the move and they connected with the home to ensure that the timing would work.Once my Dad was settled into the assisted living facility my focus shifted to downsizing his home for sale. I was completely overwhelmed with the volume of items and the physical task of emptying the house. Alivio, and Rita herself, took over the process and alleviated my stress. They organized all of his belongings for donation, disposal and sale. We were in a difficult situation. No family in the province and our family member in the hospital with the plan to transition to LTC. The goal was to empty his suite, curate his items, store what was being kept, find homes for those items that would not be needed, send some personal items to the hospital.
