Stopped in on a busy Saturday night downtown, was able to sit down right away. Waitress/bartender was prompt and friendly. The place stays packe, is loud, and very close quarters, if that's not your scene, don't bother. Food was excellent and the beer selection, especially German, is very very expansive!

One of the oldest bars in the city. It's just a cool dive bar but don't let that put you off: incredibly friendly owners and staff who really care, lots of great beers on tap, and a unique old bar that oozes character. I had the Cobb Salad ... wow, see pic. Everything was fresh, and the owner told me they source the food locally from the market every few days, I could tell. Such a large and fresh tasting salad. Served with a smile. I will be back 100%. Thanks guys for making me welcome (I was on my own).

Great German dive right in the heart of Detroit. Nice beer selection, great menu. Loud social place to go with friends.

First time here.We got two Reuben sandwiches and the sandwiches deserve a 4. One came with fries and one with chips. The fries were good but the chips were not seasoned well. The pretzels were disappointing and the cheese tasted like a fake one.Additional note: There is a parking attached to the restaurant and it has a big sign by the entrance saying “Jacoby’s restaurant’s parking” but when we parked some guy came asking for the parking fee! So be aware. My suggestion is to take the sign off, because if there is a sign that indicates this is the restaurant’s parking then it shouldn’t have an additional cost!

The atmosphere is top notch! The beer list is long but my first two choices weren't available so I think it may need to be updated. The spaetzle was oily and didn't have enough sauce, but nice and crispy otherwise!

I don't know what was better, the food or the service. The food was absolutely delicious, so good that I went two nights in a row. The service was extremely impressive. Even when it was packed, my food came out promptly and my beers got to the table so quickly that I began to suspect psychic powers were involved. I would strongly recommend this place!!! It's the kind of place I'm going to miss when I head out of town.

A great bar with some delicious authentic German food! Their drink menu is longer then there food menu, so you're nearly guaranteed to find something you'll like. Nice atmosphere, definitely feels like a modern bar. So if you prefer a quieter dinner music then this isn't for you.

Stopped by and had a Rueben and the pretzels with the beer cheese. The Rueben was very good but not the best I’ve had in the city. Quality of meat in the sandwich was good but I’m pretty sure they are using processed Swiss cheese and not real cheese. The bread was toasted perfectly though. The French fries on the side of my sandwich were super tasty and crispy on the outside but fluffy in the middle. The house made chips were meh. Good texture but too lite on the seasoning. This leads us to the pretzels and beer cheese. I was really looking forward to this appetizer but sadly it was not good. The pretzels were too greasy and the cheese was clearly not made with real cheese or even a decent beer. Major disappointment.
