I was in Alert Bay for a funeral this past week and had the opportunity to stay at the Nimpkish, The Nimpkish felt as though it was more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel with the warmness of the hosts always being available. The views are stunning the only thing I would prefer is if the windows had screens as i met a few mosquitos.OverallComfort (bed/space etc) 4/5Customer Service 5/5Views 5/5Included breakfast 4/5Walkability 5/5If i ever find myself back in Alert Bay ill be sure to stay here again.

We stayed at the Nimpkish hotel on 7th July, and only have very positive things to report. The two best things about the hotel are the team running it (Will and Pemba) and the setting. Will and Pemba are a lovely team, extremely accomodating, attentive and Pemba is an excellent chef (she has opened several restaurants on the island). The setting is a 100 year old hotel, on a stilts, steeped in history and with a phenomenal new deck (bbq/lounge chairs/hammock) all with an unobstructed view of the open ocean. They also keep a beautifying flower, herb and vegetable garden.I will definitely recommend this place to my family.

Superb Continental breakfast including Blackberry crumble. Friendly, knowledgable, and helpful hosts. Perfect room (#7) including balcony overlooking ocean. Loved our time here.

We loved our stay at the Nimpkish Hotel. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. Our view was spectacular. The breakfast had lovely touches like home made muffins and deviled eggs. We will definitely be coming back!

This small hotel is a lovely place to stay, we liked the seaview and enjoyed the friendly, warm atmosphere. Great food. We wished we could visit again some day.

We stayed at the end of December (low season) and we were the only guests in the hotel. Bill and Jenny were amazing hosts and looked after us during our short stay. We had a sea facing room that gave us a beautiful view of the channel. The hotel is old, but clean and cozy with beautiful wooden floors. Jenny told us the amazing history of the hotel and there are historic photos on the walls of the reception.

This was a much needed getaway! The hosts were phenomenal, gracious, welcoming and very friendly! The room was clean, quiet and spacious! The views were breathtaking! Breakfast was great and plentiful! We had to catch an early ferry off the island and had a dead battery, the owner Brent showed up with jumper cables to save the day, we made it to the ferry with a minute to spare. A big thank you to the hosts and the owner for going the extra mile!

A perfect location on the water in an older building. Sitting on the patio watching the world go by is a surreal experience. The management is great, offering some delicious home-made items with breakfast.Alert Bay is well worth a stay of a few days, but come prepared for limited food options other than the general store, which is well stocked. Take time for the cultural centre, the ecological trails and whale/bear watching.

A most enjoyable stay. The room was impeccably clean. Hosts William and Pemba and owner Brett were super friendly and helpful, and treated us like family. Room service was fast and delicious.

This place is a gem! If you make it to Alert Bay, this is the place to stay in! Staff are super friendly and helpful. View from the hotel is awesome! Room was clean, comfortable, cozy and spacious. The continental breakfast is actually pretty good quality. When we visited the village, there was only one restaurant open - Pass'n'Thyme - it was also excellent. If you're visiting mid week, bring groceries with you so you can BBQ to feed yourself (there are two grills available at the hotel), or risk being hungry for a while as restaurants are not open often. Do the Sea Smoke whale watching tour and check out the local indigenous monuments and museum.
