LaSalle Causeway - Canada.ca | The LaSalle Causeway links downtown Kingston to Pittsburgh near the mouth of the Cataraqui River. It was built in 1917 replacing the 1829 'Penny Bridge', a wooden toll bridge with a swing section to allow passage of marine vessels

So, the good. It's historical, and has been the primary connection linking East and West Kingston together for a very long time. Now the bad: it's maintained by the federal government, who don't seem to coordinate their maintenance with the province (who maintain the 401) or the city. Cyclists should dismount and use the walkway to cross, otherwise you'll hold up traffic as the lanes are too narrow.

Goes up for like 45 mins randomly with no updates or ETA on how long it will be up. Completely unreliable. 1/10 would rather swim across
