R J Lang Elementary and Middle School

When I first moved to Toronto to begin my teacher career, RJ Lang was the first school where I really enjoyed attending, as well as working with my colleagues and students. Pat Williamson was my mentor figure there, and I echo his statements about the school. I regret that I couldn’t stay longer, because I had a strong connection to everyone in the school community, whether they’d be students, parents, teachers, and admin. Even though the community has changed over time, the fact that people like Mr. Williamson are still there is a good sign, because they help make sure that the school your child is attending is a good school, and they completely value and care about their well-being.

Horrible school, low education quality, teachers are not able to supervise kids, unfair, rude, ignorant. The principal is even worse. When parents are not in the school premises yells at kids. I heard how kids threw chairs in the classroom through the open window. The teacher started screaming like crazy!!!? They are not proactive at all. Teachers are straight thinkers, being creative is not about them at all. Classes are boring for smart kids. Hands on activities are so dumm. Regret that we have to attend this school.

Very disappointed with the school staff, mainly the receptionist is very rude, unhelpful and mean, who sits with an old lady, school is not clean, most teachers are not friendly with the kids and parents, only few teachers are really nice. Staff doesn't let the parents in the school even if the weather is too bad, that's so inhuman. There should be a waiting room with some chairs to seat for the parents at least. Because few mothers are pregnant, some grandparents are tired, they just stand outside and wait for the children for 20-30 minutes.This school staff should make the school happy and better place for children. Learn some humanity, kindness and to smile, you get well paid for your job

Underfunded, dilipadated, I went to this school a couple years ago and I have no good memories, The school was old and most of the teachers did not care at all, there were some great teachers, but I can say most of them did not care about the students school life, the school is old and dilipadated the desks are very old or broken and the curriculum is from the 19 century. They leave kids in the cold for 1-2 hours and they don’t allow them in they just say go enjoy the weather when half the kids are begging to go inside because they are freezing

The principal Shari Green-Brown is very rude, unwilling to help, gives wrong information, abuses her power and disrespectful to the student’s parents. Worst school to send your child to. No agenda - no order, no means of communication for parents with the teacher, low academic demand for home work and projects. No school clubs. A lot of older kids are disrespectful and using inappropriate language. Main topic to for them to discuss is “Gucci”... The school average is 68. I can see why after meeting the school office staff and their boss - Mrs. Shari Grenn-Brown.

The school has no air conditioning in the second floor except for the library, literally almost fainted from the heat. The school only has ac in the office and there is no ac for students except for kindergarteners

My family has had a very negative experience with this school and I would estimate that I am not alone in my experience. The administration and staff regularly engage in unfair, discriminatory and judgmental practices. The Fraser Institute has ranked this school at or below 5/10 among elementary schools in Toronto for the last several years and for good reason. The teachers and principals at this school are sorely lacking in cultural competence. They bring their negative personal bias' and judgment to the way they interact with students and parents, particularly those from racialized groups and those who have a less than affluent socioeconomic status. They could certainly use some specialized anti-racist/anti discriminatory training in addition to the mandatory school board training that they obviously sleep through. There are good teachers at the school but they are an exception to what is generally a horrible school. Why the community, school staff, and the Toronto District School Board are comfortable with such a consistently substandard school is beyond me. Change is required.

Veteran teacher... 25 yrs. We have a revolving door in regards to our admin... It's a challenging school but under SBG we were excited and enthusiastic about teaching. Please don't judge us by the isolated events... these don't define us, instead look at the care and support we give your children, our clients. Join our parent council to have a voice... affect change this way.

The school could not be worse. Everything is terrible quality and the staff aren't doing anything. That's only the tip of the iceberg.

Iv had and expirenece of it for 2 years my brother was sick and threw up he was 5 years old and sk at the time and istead of sending home they made clean his mess and didnt send him home even and the staff is rellay rude
