Houston Avenue Bar & Grill
Had the beef tartar, my colleagues had Caesar salads and burgers. Everyone raved about the food. The beef tartar was fresh and prepared perfectly, just enough Dijon and gherkins. Could have used more bread but it was actually plenty because the dish was so delicious I could eat it with a fork. No egg yolk, but that is totally understandable due to the risk involved with serving raw eggs and really with the seasonings and doodads you can get past the lack of egg. Can't wait to try more of the menu. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

We come here often. The food is fantastic, but very slow and poor service. Slow to the point we sometimes wonder if they forgot our order. Been here at different times of day and the restaurant being busy or not, getting someone to take our order or ordering another drink is a painful experience. We still suggested this place to our group of friends for a birthday party not long ago thinking we may receive better service as a group but we were terribly wrong and a little ashamed we suggested this restaurant.Food is fantastic though, never disappointed there. Better and quicker service and this place would be a 5 star location for sure!

So good. The food was incredible. The inner side of my burger bun was burnt but I still ate it. The waitress was very kind and curteous. I was impressed. Overall great experience.

Came late night and shared some apps and drinks with a friend. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. Nice, big and meaty shrimp!

Such a great atmosphere, our sever was super friendly and the food was amazing. I had the Mediterranean Salmon at our servers suggestion and even though I had the tiniest bit left I still got it to go. Amazing flavours, service, and especially environment. Would recommend.

After arriving on time for our reservation, to celebrate 55th birthday, we were somewhat surprised by a rather underwhelming service.40 min after arriving I had to call for a Manger to ask when will someone be courteous enough to get off their phone to take an order... as servers were rather concentrating on their mobile devices then guests.Lobster tails, were about 7cm long and looked more like a shrimp.... on top of it they were served raw...A rather disappointing experience!

Wow, first time here and absolutely blown away. Friendly and welcoming staff followed by the best steak I've had in years!! Good choice of beers on tap and had an appetizer followed by their 20oz Ribeye steak with porcini sauce. Perfectly cooked medium rare throughout, seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. Side of mashed potatoes and really well cooked and seasoned mixed vegetables were a great addition. Will definitely be back and recommending to friends and family.

Arrived to Houston with my Dad and his wife for lunch.I enjoyed their signature burger with some sweet potato fries and it was very delicious and filling.The service was quick, but the waitress was a little passive. Not really friendly, but not mean either.The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is pleasant, but the booths we were sitting in weren't the most comfortable. The design of the booths are a bit awkward.All-in-all, I wouldn't hesitate to come here for a second visit.

We got the tataki and the steak and fries.The tataki was great. The presentation and the seasoning was on point. No complaints there. I was actually quite impressed.The steak however was insanely dry. I don't know how they thought it was acceptable to serve this garbage. I was having so much trouble just cutting it with the steak knife and it was so hard to chew. It also tasted burnt. The way they massacred this unfortunate piece of meat should be a criminal offense.The vegetables were bland. Like there was no sauce or seasoning. Just boiled or steamed... It's honestly just really lazy cooking.The sweet potato fries were amazing though. I'd recommend. Crispy on the outside and just the right amount of seasoning to compliment the sweetness of the potato.
