made me wait 7 hours after which, upon asking how much longer it might take, they told me I might as well leave and they denied me medical assistance for my second degree burns over half my right hand. Constantly felt mistreated and then I realised it was because those micro-aggressions were racially motivated. Only other person of colour I saw was this chick who had blood running down her leg and needed stitches and they made her wait hours longer than any white person with injuries that severe. Asked multiple times for ointment or something to help w my hand and all they had to say was “we can’t give you anything you can’t find at a pharmacy” meanwhile giving all other patients ice packs and medications.

Not to blame the hospital and especially not the hard working staff, I would rather say what it is, and that is the completely failing system. Just a terrible experience, complete mistreatment and zerro willingness to treat patients. Politicians and managers should be held responsible for this rather that overworked, exhausted and mistreated staff. And stop blaming COVID, it was just as bad prior to 2000.

Last week, my 2.5 year old grandson came to Emergency with what turned out to be RSV, viral pneumonia and ear infections. Emergency was packed, but they quickly admitted him and administered oxygen. He ended up in an isolation room in Pediatrics in a relatively short period of time. After having spent 3 days in the ward, the doctor called 2 days in a row to enquire about how he was progressing at home. We were shocked. The follow-up was amazing. My daughter was able to ask questions that gave her peace of mind and ensured that she didn't need to go back to Emerg. The staff both in Emergency and in the Pediatric ward were compassionate and supportive. It makes you feel good about the world around you and people when you see such dedication and kindness. They were professional without losing their empathy.I don't know how they do it day in and day out. I felt traumatized just listening to the machines go off when my grandson's oxygen levels fell dangerously low. They are dealing with huge numbers of children with serious life threatening illness on a daily basis.I am so grateful to them. My grandson is home and recuperating from what could have been a great tragedy. It will be a Merry Christmas thanks to all of them.Thank you doesn't express my gratitude. Just know how amazing you all are. I finally realized that the reason we all have to wait so long in Emergency is because there are people who would be dead if they weren't treated immediately. Our system needs some upgrading, but the doctors and nurses are world class. We just need more of them.

I received excellent care at the emergency dept and was immediately admitted and taken care of by the surgeon Dr. Rob( sorry dont recall his last name) who stopped severe heameraging from my skull following my fall at home. Everyone of the Emergency was attentive and quick to respond to whatever I needed. My sincere gratitude to all.

Compared to Jubilee, these guys are rock stars. They actually have compassion for patients. I would choose VGH over RJH in a heartbeat.

I don’t understand WHY, if that is EMERGENCY we should wait in the lobby 4-5-6 hours. In my understanding - EMERGENCY means ‘help us immediately’.Hire more Doctors, organize the workflow. Why patients with EMERGENCY should wait?

I was sent to emergency by my doctor with heart fibrillations and a slightly elevated blood pressure on July 30. I was admitted very quickly. The waiting area was packed. It was so busy. I felt sorry for the people who had to wait for hours. There were all sorts of patients - some intoxicated, some screaming in pain, some injured etc. I was amazed how calm and caring the staff were. The doctor had almost lost his voice from talking and explaining to patients, yet he was very energetic and pleasant. I was treated well and with respect. Too bad I can’t remember a single name. But thank you for treating me with respect.

This is my 2nd visit here in the emergency room Vic Gen. I got sick on Dec 31st. I went there and was waiting to see a doctor 6 h!!!! First visit was just about the same. The estimated waiting time on the board was not relevant. I noticed some people were called to registration desk who came after me. I do not know who runs it. Government responsible etc. How can you rate government only by participating in next election. I saw people in pain, elderly, mothers with children waiting in the room. At the end when I was called doctor told me you have this and this". He even did not examine me
