-Edit: there you go continuing with the lies again. I called twice on Sunday cause my boat was sinking. You answered the second time and were extremely rude. Not once did I call you anything because I don’t do that. You’re someone’s mother. Also, more lies about me calling you after to harass you. I can post a screen shot but you’re not worth the time. We also spoke earlier in the week last week and you said “today or tomorrow and no I can’t tell you when” but go ahead..leave that part out of it because it shows you’re a liar. People need to know who they’re dealing with. Just be polite. You have a business you are running for profit. Not doing anyone favors. Be polite! Be professional….it’s not that hard I promise I have a few businesses myself. BE PROFESSIONAL! And quit lying.- Original: I cannot stress enough how rude and unprofessional this company is. The lady, to avoid other words, that answers the phone is beyond rude. For absolutely no reason. From day one, I was polite, respectful, and not pushy. Scheduled to have them look at my boat a few weeks ago. She said they’d probably look at it the week after. That didn’t happen, but a probably for people that are busy means no. I get that, no problem. I call last week, she says in the next 24-48 hrs we will have someone look at it. Very rudely by the way….and no I was not nagging. Completely unprovoked….again. Fast Forward a few more days, now boat has no power and taking in water….sinking boat…I call them. On a Sunday. To ask if they actually came out or not, and if not to cancel and find a mechanic that actually cares and wants to take care of it. Sinking boat…urgency. She answers the phone, extremely rude again. “We’ll it’s Sunday how the hell would I know if someone came?” Pretending she didn’t know. I tell her thanks for nothing and bye. Wife calls today to ensure that they didn’t come, we don’t want to not pay people for labor done…and she went off on my wife, yelled at her, and told her to find another mechanic. Jesus Christ….what is wrong with these people? I should have looked at the yelp reviews before scheduling them as you can see they run a very horrible business. Ran horribly by someone that has some issues. Again… very rude, will lie to you, and will not give you timeframe of when they will look at it and do anything.

After seeing the reply to my husband I feel like I should add in my experience as well. I was present for the first phone call May 16 when she answered with an attitude before we could even get a word in. She told us more than likely someone would be out after the holiday, however, someone was going to be at the marina next week working and would be able to stop by and check it out. After the holiday he called to see when someone could come out and we were told on Tuesday “today or tomorrow” but we were patient and didn’t bother them for a few days. On Sunday he called again to see what was going on because the electric stopped working and our boat was taking on water and was told “it’s Sunday, how am I supposed to know” with attitude and which point he responded with “thanks for nothing, bye”. He did not call her names like she claimed, nor did she say that to me when I called to ask if someone stopped by, because even though she was beyond rude and unprofessional he still wanted to compensate anyone that may have gone to give us an estimate. She didn’t let me get a word in, she went off on me and hung up before I could say anything. My husband values respect, kindness, and professionalism more than anyone else I know and anyone that knows him will agree. I can not speak for the work this company provides but if the person answering the phones wants to be rude, lie, and act like your company is doing a favor by allowing me to bring my business and potentially thousands of dollars to you, I wouldn’t take the risk.

They took me same day and were done the next day at busiest time of year. Took good care of my small vintage 1959 boat. Helpful.

I had a cone clutch go bad on my Merc outdrive , brought the outdrive to Ron ,he diagnosed the problem had the right parts and got me going the same day !

First Mate is amazing! I have used them for years. We we’re bringing our new to us boat home from another state. About 5 miles after leaving we started taking on water. Called first mate, Ron told us how do a temp fix over the phone. A couple hours later they called us to make sure we were still doing ok (approx 8:30p). Great people and reasonable prices!

Brenda, Ron and the team at First Mate are really top notch. They helped me through a stressful situation and getting my boat fixed up and back on the water QUICK! I really appreciated all of Brenda’s communication with me in the short time my boat was at the shop. I snapped a shaft in one of my drives and the team was able to turn it around. I’m not sure what else they did but the boat starts better and feels better too. I think their rates are really reasonable. They understand that boating itself is expensive and gouging customers is no way to do business. This is the second emergency I’ve taken to First Mate but I am definitely going to consider getting them on the routine maintenances.

First Mate has been nothing but spectacular!! Bought my first boat for myself and right off the launch needed some work and education on proper maintenance for her. Brenda worked with my schedule to get me in and most importantly kept me updated on the necessary work. The guys in the back are fantastic and took the time to educate me on all the work they did and were quick as ever! First Mate is responsive to my boat needs and their work has always been excellent. They did a great job wrapping my boat even though it was late in the season. Ron is one of the best marine mechanics in the are.

The best in town I will never go anywhere else good people and the best mechanic Ron is the man and Brenda she is the best love these people

From the very beginning, I had a very good experience Brenda was very professional in handling my situation I had a seawater pumped. that went bad on me the day I put the boat in I called first mate. They were able to squeeze me in before the holiday weekend so I was able to enjoy my weekend out on the water. Highly recommended that if you need something done look them up.
