The Beardmore Building
The Beardmore Building features a style from the Second Empire, popular in France during the reign of Napoleon III (1852-1870) as inspired by Haussmann’s renovations of Paris-brickwork and cast iron. The building was completed in 1872 by architect David Roberts Jr and is part of the historic contribution to the rail lines in the district along with, inter alia, the Gooderham Flatiron Building.Designated under Part IV and Part V, Ontario Heritage Act, the building is a testament to Toronto’s representation of Second Empire architecture.
