Enormous selection of canoes and kayaks for rent. Shuttle service too! The store has many items you will need for camping including dehydrated food, goodies and awesome souvenir clothing. Nice and clean with friendly staff.

Best outfitters and chip truck in Algonquin! Do not miss out on Avery’s Chip Truck! Best fries ever and the cheeseburgers are charbroiled to perfection with fresh buns and lots of fresh toppings. We come here everyday they are open when we are in the park - it’s that good. Nice picnic tables and umbrellas to enjoy it all in the fresh air away from the road near the canoes. Chipmunks and birds provide entertainment! 10/10 recommendation!!

Huge thanks to the team at Opeongo Outfitters for the amazing experience. I rented a 2 person canoe for 2 days at Mew Lake, the canoe was awesome and they provided a life jacket that fit perfectly (great news as a plus-sized gal!). Price was fantastic. Chris was amazing, so gracious with my date mix-up (sorry again!). If you're looking for an outfitter, make sure to get out this awesome business.

Jimmy and his crew took amazing care of us. We had a group of 40 and the tents, canoes, and all camping items were perfect.Jimmy also went out of his way to provide us with water when a water advisory took place the afternoon of our arrival.Look no further for all your needs in Algonquin. Thanks Opeongo!

My friend and I went for a late summer ultimate trip. The setup, tent, canoe, cooking facilities/utensils - like new and super clean!! We had the very best experience. They were so attentive to us and we had the best site. Jimmy was amazing to deal with and watched the weather for us 24/7. Matt set up our site and we were so, so happy. It was exactly like we manifested it and better. We will definitely do this trip again. We were safe and in touch at all times. So thankful for the memories! Don’t confuse them with the Algonquin Outfitters store at the “pick up” area, they have their own store in the town Of Whitney. Loved our experience. We couldn’t have hoped for better than what we received. Will definitely be back every year as long as they will have us. Thanks Jimmy, Matt and family. Ps. We are/were inexperienced campers/canoeists.

We had an excellent experience renting from Opeongo Outfitters over the Canada Day long weekend this year. The staff are so friendly and flexible, and when we had to shorten our trip last minute, they still refunded us for the extra days. We go on a lot of overnight trips and will be renting from them again. Highly recommend!

I’ve been coming to Algonquin and Opeongo lake/store since I was a kid. Now I’m 24 and want to love it but I’m always disappointed by the customer service here. The store was dead today, I had gone in to buy a drink, found a sale shirt. While walking around the store I saw one member of staff stocking one shelf and another behind the ice cream area on his phone. I began waiting for the one cashier to be done serving a customer, I believe that area mainly sells canoe/kayak rentals but the other staff members were occupied so I was looking at other items nearby the check out, when a worker had somewhat abruptly asked me “are you planning on buying that?” while she was stocking shelves. I replied “yes” somewhat taken aback by the initial wording of her question, and proceeded to the second cash. I don’t know if it was because I hiked all morning and looked rough, but I felt very unwelcomed and truly uncomfortable. The timeframe of the transaction was filled with sighs and awkward, “I rather be anywhere else” tension exuding from the staff member. I’ve worked within the customer service field for nearly a decade in multiple sectors, so it was quite disheartening to feel like an utter nuisance while completing my transaction. Last time I visited here a staff member had yelled at my mother for standing in the door way when she was having a mobility issue due to her disability. I think I’m going to be skipping the store from now on, I’ve spent lots of time and money here. I want to love this store, but the staff choices and training is questionable.

Water Taxi To Perfect CampJust back from two nights up Opeongo Lake, made possible by the experience of the great staff at Opeongo Outfitters in Whitney. Matt loaded all my gear and a rental canoe and tent at the dock on Opeongo Lake and helped me find the perfect campsite in the narrows on the big lake. The water taxi trip saved me a full day paddle. Loved the heavy cedarstrip boat! I was able to take everything I needed to stay on the campsite for two nights in comfort I don't get when I'm on extended portage trips in Algonquin's interior. The booking was exactly as I'd ordered on the phone and they happily rented me only the few things I needed to complete my kit for the stay. Outfitter Matt listened to what I wanted to find for picture locations and helped me find the perfect campsite. In a world of plastic tents and canoes its nice to go back into the heritage of Algonquin with a third generation outfitter. Once again happy to highly recommend them.

Fairly straight forward outfitter. Lots of branded clothing, some camping supplies/equipment, canoes & kayaks for sale & rent.Good chips at the chip truck & there's a craft store for what appears to be indigenous products, but I didn't go in there.
