I had a homeowner orientation for my purchase at Mode with Behshid from Wesgroup and they exceeded my expectations to ensure all my concerns were addressed properly. Wesgroup demonstrated this level of customer service for my previous purchase as well even after completion (thanks to Jerry and Nathan), so this is a developer that can be trusted for sure.

Great experience living at a Wesgroup property for a couple of years while waiting for our new place to be finished. Right from the beginning when I answered an ad for the rental unit the property manager was very professional and very nice. Along the way, issues with the property were addressed quickly as the maintenance staff and contractors were all great. Good communication by phone and with the on-line system made it work for me. I would definitely rent from Wesgroup again if the need arose in the future. Being an industry professional I know what goes on operationally with these rental properties and I was very happy with the high level of safety, security and service that my family experienced while being a tenant at a Wesgroup property.

Why Wesgroup & the River District get a 5-star rating. I moved to the River District on July 15, 2020 in the midst of COVID. I leased a condo in the Quartet Building from a couple who purchased it as an investment. I will discuss both my stay at Quartet & my experience living here having since moved, but not out of the River District.During my stay at Quartet, I was kept apprised of all activities/problems via email within & outside of the building. When I encountered any problems, Julia, Wesgroup property mgr, was quick to respond. In the event she wasn’t able to take care of it, her email response provided phone numbers for personnel who could. The building I was living in was a high rise & came with access to an amenities room & Club Central’s gym, pool, basketball/squash courts. The two elevators were fast & only posed a problem when someone had one blocked for moving. The garbage room provided ample containers for recycling, organics & waste. Underground parking was easy to maneuver & felt safe. There is lots of free visitor’s parking available & an easy to use app when expecting guests.Speaking of parking, since it is extremely difficult to find street parking here, which is free, when shopping at, or visiting the area, Shoppers Drug Mart & Save on Foods each have underground parkades - Save on also has a large parking lot, all free of charge. If you like dogs, there are plenty in the River District, and, conveniently, a Bosley’s pet store right below me. In addition, a Shopper’s Drug Mart, & an Orange Theory Fitness (#OTFRiverDistrict), which I would highly recommend joining. The staff is knowledgeable, caring and supportive, offering varied workouts and challenges at your own intensity. Other retailers such as Save On Foods, Starbucks, Everything Wine, in addition to restaurants & other businesses in the surrounding area, & the fact the River District is growing very quickly, makes it a very convenient place to live. The area has been developed with lots of greenery, & walkways. You are only minutes away from the River and there is a trail along it that takes you both east and west for several km for walking, biking or jogging.A bus driver I was speaking with about the area with said this recently. “If you look at a map of the lower mainland, the River District is the most centrally located place you can live, and still enjoy the benefits of being a resident of Vancouver proper”. Access to areas south of the Fraser is dependant on bridges or a tunnel. Being centrally located means we have more options when driving to these areas, especially in the event of a bridge/tunnel accident/closure.Times in minutes to various landmark locations:Ferries: Tsawwassen: 25; Horseshoe Bay: 45Peace Arch & Boundary Bay borders crossings: 30-40YVR: 20Skytrains: Canada Line at Cambie: 20; Expo Line: 15Hwy 1: 15; Hwy 99 Southbound: 20Beaches: Trout Lake: 15; Second Beach: 25North Vancouver 30There is infrastructure being developed as I write this, with a community centre and a school in the plans. We have had the pleasure of listening to live music in the Save On Foods common area and I believe there is a farmers’ market in the works for late August, but don’t quote me on that.Probably the best thing about living in the River District are the people. In my experience residents, Wesgroup staff, retailers/restaurants/business owners and employees, have been friendly, welcoming & caring.Living in the River District for the past two years has been nothing short of exceptional and is, in part, why I decided to move to Keel, a Wesgroup rental property just down the street. The incentives they are offering for future purchase of a new Wesgroup property sealed the deal and made it a no-brainer for me. Analiza, the building manager is very hard working and attentive. Moving in was seamless & she bends over backwards to ensure things go smoothly for all of the residents. The people living here are no exception the rule. I feel very fortunate to be an RiDR (River District Resident).#RiverDistrictVancouver

The developer Wesgroup is all about making money with little regard for customer service or building a quality product. When I bought a condo in AVALON 1 - RIVER DISTRICT in 2016, I put down 20% and had to sign a contract that heavily favoured the developer. I did not think I would have to wait over three years for it to be completed. At the end of 2019 we inquired about the closing date because we were planning a holiday overseas and were concerned we would be out of the country. We received the following reply:As per the Disclosure Statement, the estimated completion date range is between January 15, 2019 to April 15, 2019. Please note that these are estimated date ranges only and are subject to change.Subsequently we were not in the country when Wesgroup sent us an email telling us we had a closing date of March 4, 2019. They were unsympathetic to the fact that we were out of the country, and because we had to extend our closing date by 20 days we were charged an additional $8000! They took my money for three years and paid me no interest, and yet when I wasn't available at a minutes notice I was charged loan shark rates. Not only have I been price gouged but the customer service has been poor with nothing but lip service. In addition there have been numerous deficiencies in the condo that have needed to be fixed, and the interior doors are the cheapest I’ve ever seen. They are already starting to fray at the bottom (1/8” plywood laminate). My recommendation is to stay away from this developer as the customer service is poor, they spend as little as possible on their buildings while taking every dollar they can!

I rented a basement suite from Wesgroup for several years. They made sure any issues that arose were sorted quickly and professionally. I felt like the place was maintained well. Each winter the house was salted weekly to ensure no ice issues on the sidewalks. We were given the opportunity to paint our space as well (this of course was specific to our unit). It was nice to be able to make space our own.

All three developers’ letters, copies of which were obtained by Postmedia, urged council to exempt unsold condo inventory from the tax, and make it retroactive.
