Drawing House

I love visiting the Drawing House. I always feel welcome - all of the staff I have met are wonderful and kind, and full of knowledge. Its a small space with a lot of stuff, I love to look around and always leave with something new. Always look forward to my visits. Thanks for being there for the artist community in Barrie!

Love all the goodies that can be found at the Drawing House. My kids and I enjoy the experience every time we visit!

Im currently working on a large coloured pencil piece and I went into The Drawing House to get a high coverage white pencil and upon recommendation was directed to the Holbein Soft white.I already had a derwent coloursoft and was picking up the Holbein white for a current commission and decided to take both pencils home to compare to the Derwent Coloursoft I had at home. I was so impressed with the Holbein white and decided to do a colour swatcc comparison. I am loving this new pencil!!!!! wonderful selection of quality products in a comfortable charming building.helpful staff member, Amber, who directed me to an item, pentel mechanical pencil not usually used in woodworking. i also, on Amber s advice, picked up additional hard to find items.a much needed shop for barrie s artists and craftsmen and women

I'm a Toronto artist & was impressed with this store. It's very organized, packs everything I might need into a compact space, yet it didn't feel overcrowded or claustrophobic. Beautiful oak vitrines give the shop a classy, nostalgic look.I was expecting only drawing supplies & various papers but they also had oils, acrylics & watercolours. The staff were friendly and well-informed. Barrie is lucky to have such a great little art supply store. I bet the classes are great too!

Had a lesson here with Neil. He was professional and knowledgeable. He really made a difference in my art process by simply showing me tweaks to make. They are also the only place in Barrie that has the Paper co watercolor sketchbook (as far as I know). What an amazing place. Will go back for sure!

Wow...I just dropped in with my 6 year old daughter and bought supplies. We were treated like family. One of the best experiences I've had at a supply store. This is where I'm buying my supplies for now on. Please check this place out and see for yourself...I didnt feel like just a number there. Nice little art store, but the sales person was very aggressive and pounced on me the second I entered the store wanting to help me find what I was looking for right away without letting me look around. I did tell them that made me uncomfortable at the end. I would have went through and looked at all the different colours and picked a lot more out if it wasn’t for that. I wish people knew that a lot of people into art have some anxiety and to relax and let people get in and look around a little and be gentle and let them come to you.People are also looking at prices when they start going to a newer store to see if thats a good place for them to shop. So even through they might have ideas of what they came in there for, prices will affect of they do it.I think this is one of the reasons a lot of people start on the online market, they can shop relaxed, read things and compare prices, there isn’t a rush to get them in and out.This is the closest art store to me through right now and I hope as they get to know me they settle down and let me shop and stop being too aggressive with the introverts. I kinda wonder if I go during the week if they would be more settled down and relax more.Will give it another go perhaps on a Monday afternoon.

Wanted to get here sooner and glad I finally did. This is a beautiful store, well organized with all the supplies you need. I was advised on an alternative to my normal fine brushes and they have worked perfectly. I will be heading back very soon. So nice to have a real art supply store locally.
