H&R Block

I recently visited H&R Block with my wife and I have to say, I was disappointed with the services we received. We had heard so much about them and were expecting a professional approach to our finances in terms of guidance, but instead, we were met with more of a salesman approach.Firstly, they did not provide us with proper information. My wife cannot file taxes for 2021 because she was not in Canada, but they told her she could. The quote they initially gave us was for $59, but when we sat down, the fees went up to $112 or so. My wife mentioned that she is a student, and the advisor seemed disappointed about it. She suggested that my wife opt for the first-time fee, which was discounted, but still more than the student fee.To make matters worse, the advisor also recommended that my wife pay an additional $120 for the second year of filing, which cannot be filed if you are not in Canada. It seemed like they were just trying to make money, without providing us with the proper guidance and information.Overall, my experience with H&R Block was disappointing. To those seeking their service, I’d recommend that you ask the right questions to know the details of what is happening and why is it happening because they would try and sell than guide you.

Just did my taxes today with Ms. Nadereh. It's my 2nd time doing taxes with her. She is simply amazing. Highly knowledgeable, proficient and skillful in what she does. She helped made the whole tax processing smooth and stress-free. Needless to say I'll definitely see her again in the future.

I had a really poor experience with H&R Block's customer service. The front desk staff messed up the dates of my appointments twice, which caused a lot of inconvenience and wasted time. During my last appointment, my accountant was incredibly unprofessional. She was dismissive of my concerns and even hung up on me during a phone call. Overall, I would not recommend H&R Block, they don't add any value.

Filed my taxes late this year. I was helped by Nadereh. She was extremely helpful, and managed to get through multiple tax forms in a short time. I would definitely come here again to file my taxes.

Finished my income taxes today with Ms. Nadereh and overall it was a very good experience. I had just became self employed half way through this year and didn't have much knowledge about many parts of the process and Nadereh was very patient with me throughout everything.

I got a scolding.It went quickly from unfriendly, to rude to scolding.I gave up & I left.The receptionists were nice but Nadareh can’t chase you out fast enough.Nasty.I don’t know what they charge for a return, but Nadareh chased two fees out the door. I’m hoping she’s the owner.

After using H&R block for many years I have disappointingly decided to write this review. If I owe money to the government because that is totally fine. If my job hasn't taken enough taxes off...so be it. What really makes me angry is when I left H&R block (Drake St) I left there believing that I only owed for the fees for the actual tax service. Ig was not explained to me that I was going to have an additional $450 in tax owing. When I went in to speak to them about it and ask for clarification all I got was defensive and rude behavior from the Asian lady at the desk and the Persian lady who also works there. They said it was all my fault that it wasn't explained to me that money would be owning. I told tell a number of times that if I owed the money that it was fine. I expressed to them again that I felt the situation was not clearly explained because I felt confident when I left that things were taken care of. When I told them I wasn't going to use their service anymore she basically said good". I've never seen 2 old women get so hyper defensive being told that the info they gave was not clear. Instead they were rude which is something I can't stand. I didn't swear at them. I didn't name call. I just said I felt like the info given to me was not clear or accurate. I will contact their head office as well but if these women are any indication of the service provided these days I doubt I will get much help there either.It also cost me almost $300 to file 2 returns which is insane."
