Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Nanaimo - Applecross

I really like the Nanaimo Kumon centre. I have both my daughters enrolled, one in the Reading program and the other one just started Math. They are so well organized in that centre, I just love it. My kids go into the centre twice a week, so I don't have to do the reading pages with my 6yr old daughter at home on those days. My 9 yr old can do the math work sheets all on her own and she's not complaining too much about it. I also know that other Kumon centres have you sign up for a period of 12 months, which is not the case in the Nanaimo location. Again, this is wonderful, because you won't be stuck with it if you don't like it. All in all a great experience so far!

Great service! Amazing management, teachers and team. Always helpful. They give further explanations and details that parents would like to know. They answer questions and provide guidance. Always above and beyond!The program might not be for everyone. It’s a commitment and consistency is key. Parent involvement is crucial especially at the beginning.Parents waiting area is a great option instead of the common area.Note: we’re in the reading program.

The worst customer service I've ever had! The service is worthless and rude. Not only the teacher at intake rolled her eyes at me, but the manager yelled at me over the phone and accused that I misunderstood their vacation schedule because I didn't read their email and didn't listen to their explanation during the orientation (which I did) instead of just acknowleding miscommunication and explaining again. As for the service: all they do is give out work books and collect themthere is not much teaching going on. You can just buy Kumon books from the store and practice at home. Same result, but will avoid the rudeness and save yourself 150 a month.

I would give more than 5 starts if I could. Best service and education program provider I've ever experienced.It sounds someone was upset and gave them a bad review here but I've never felt like that. They are always helpful and friendly and work hard for improving our kids' math and reading skills. Excellent communication, very professional and great program! Their service is smooth and straightforward. No weirdness and confusion.I've heard they've been doing it in Nanaimo over 20 years! My friends' kids are also taking math there and they all are very happy! I definitely recommend to everyone.

I was associated with this program and hated their service

I was a student at this Centre for seven years. The program transformed me from being a C average student, who was trailing over a full year behind in Math and English , to a A- average student. At the time of my completion of the program I was two years ahead of grade level standard. This program made high school mathematics a breeze and well prepared me for my post secondary education. Kumon not only strengthens Math and English/Reading skills, but also teaches the importance of organization, and encourages students to pursue independent learning. I will always recommend this Centre. The effects of this program are quite life altering.
