I absolutely loved my stay at the Tadoussac Hostel, if you're going through you have to stop by. I've stayed at a few hostels and this is hands down my favourite.

Everything here is totally outdated and run down. The bathrooms are stinking and moldy. It seems that people in charge enjoy their own fun und put Service the last. We left earlier and lost money but that felt the best we can do.

Just an amazing place, great vibes. Cool people, always helpful.

The negative reviews are laughable honestly. People pay 25$ a night and expect an hotel experience? If you want a pristine and calm place, don't bother, but otherwise it's a cool place with interesting people.This a real auberge de jeunesse" experience

Really cheap hostel, specially compared to the places nearby. The staff is really helpful, they recommended us a lot of activities to do.Take in mind, it's a hostel, so the rooms and the showers are shared. Said that, the place was clean. The beds could be better, but I slept really well, can't complain counting what I paid for staying there.The atmosphere was great. We found a big a variety of people, from group of young people, to couples or families.

The staff was friendly and the rooms, shower facilities and kitchen were decently clean, typical youth hostel level. However, it is a very noisy hostel, so if you want to enjoy a quiet time, this is not your best bet. You also can't lock the door to the room, so better carry all your valuables with you.

Note: we slept in what used to be the mayor's house. The price fits the quality.The hostel itself is very lively. However if you are a light sleeper, you may not want to stay the night as it can be quite noisy due to being a very youth hostel (youth, concert, Tadoussac ferry traffic).If you happen to be staying at the old mayor's house on the other hand, great for a quiet sleep. However, I would recommend bringing your own towels, sheets, mattress covers, and blankets, as the sheets they are quite worn down in that location. The mayor's house is only used when people want a more private room and the hostel is overbooked. This house is old and it shows.Another note is that there is no wifi at the mayor's house and the Tadoussac wifi has a very bad signal. Some of the light switches don't work and there is no AC in the summer. Keep those windows open for drafts.Also, if security is one of your priorities, avoid the mayor's house as much as possible. There are no locks anywhere and all the windows can be open. If you don't like bugs, there are also no screens to stop the bugs from coming in.For a really, really cheap stay as a youth or for a quick pit stop in Tadoussac to visit for a bit, I recommend staying at the hostel itself. This is possibly the worst hostel I've ever been to. No keys to the doors. Noisy and crowded all the time even at 4AM - from people who didn't sleep rather than ones who got up early. Unclean. No breakfast. The showers are all in the basement. The building is old and needs renovations. From what I hear, this is the only affordable option in town - avoid at all costs unless you plan on partying all night.
