Rude, and will try to rip you off

Awful service.Planned an afternoon trip on the Vancouver Island with a friend via seaplanes from Vancouver that needed a car.Booked a rental with this branch of Budget online in advance. We arrived bang on time but the office was empty. The guy cleaning and moving cars told us that the guy in the office had just popped out but would be back in 10 minutes. We waited and the 10 minutes came and went. We asked if the cleaning guy could help. He said he couldn’t work the computer and he had no way of contacting the guy who could.More time passed. Other customers arrived. One said that he’d been ringing all morning to try to book a reservation but there had been no answer. The cleaning guy seemed to be talking to the other guy on the phone (even though he said he couldn’t) and he was on his way back.Over 40 minutes after our scheduled time he finally returned. This made us too late to do the whole purpose of us visiting the island before we we had to return on our booking on the last plane of the day, so we requested a refund.The guy was very apologetic saying that there had been an emergency but essentially it wasted nearly $500 in flights.He said that he needed to make a call to arrange a refund and when he did he was put on hold for ages, adding to our frustration. As other people were waiting he said he would sort it and would contact me to confirm the refund.I hadn’t heard anything after a few days so I chased it up and was told that the refund would be processed soon.I finally got a refund 10 days later but seriously out of pocket from a wasted trip.

Most difficult location to find because the location moved months ago. Google maps is not updated and Budget customer service doesn't even know the location moved.When we finally located the office, the woman working there gave less than stellar directions for the budget stalls in the parkade. The Budget Rental Car signage was nonexistent in the parkade.Also, do not rent a 2021 Toyota Highlander. The seat belt status chime does not turn off.

Not sure what the negative reviews are about - the service here was great. The lady who looked after my wife and I was very friendly - offered us plenty of info about our trip around the island etc. She even changed our drop-off to a more convenient location in Nanaimo than the one that I had chosen after we told her where we were going. The other gentleman working there was helping an elderly customer and did so with patience and respect.

Alquilamos un coche. Atención muy buena. La parte negativa son los precios, pero el local no tiene que ver.

Diane is a fantastic rep, she made our experience with budget one that we will remember.
