Beaches Co-operative Playschool

Both of my children have attended BCP and we couldn't have asked for a more friendly and nurturing environment. The teachers are phenomenal - warm, caring and innovative in their programming. The school is play based and allows for a lot of imagination in play. We always loved the artwork, new songs and creative play the kids would bring home with them. We also loved the community spirit of the school, the families really believe in it and everyone pitches in to make it successful for every child. Our son particularly really blossomed in the kinder prep program, which helped him to transition so very smoothly to kindergarten. We can't recommend BCP enough!

I highly recommend Beaches Cooperative Playschool! The teachers are so warm and nurturing and the space is fun and inviting for children. The program is truly play based, and gives children the opportunity to explore their interests while being introduced to a variety of new learning experiences. The flexibility of being able to stay with our children in the classroom as needed was so beneficial as they made the transition from home to school.

As background, I have been a part of the BCP family since 2013. My son started when he was 18 months and my daughter when she was 15 months. I am very surprised by the review put forward by Jill S. The situation she is describing sounds very similar to one my daughter experienced a few months back; however, the outcome of my daughter’s situation was very different. When my daughter was 2.5years, she expressed having trouble making friends, and as her mother I noticed she needed some coaching on how to enter into small group play with her peers. The staff at the school was amazingly responsive when I brought forth my concerns. They took time out of their lunch break between class to meet with me and develop an action plan for helping my daughter. They were extremely professional and had wonderful ideas and programming which they implemented with great success. As a parent it meant the world to me that the teachers cared so much for my child’s wellbeing and were willing to go above and beyond for one of their students. We have since moved on from the school, as both my children now attend a Montessori program; however I have nothing but admiration for the staff at BCP and would encourage anyone looking for a program where your child will be nurtured and cared for by a loving community of teachers and parents to go and have a tour.

I was so anxious about my son starting daycare but the playschool made this transition super easy and he loves going! The teachers are fantastic, the space is huge and the parents are very supportive. I couldn't be happier!

Wonderful school. My child joined the little learners program in Fall of this year and it's been great for his social skills. At first I was a little wary of the cooperative model, but I've actually found the work very minor, and in fact a really welcoming community social event with other parents. Highly recommend.

My son just started in the Little Learners program at BCP. We were a little nervous to begin as after 2+ years the Covid pandemic, he had limited opportunities to be with other kids or left alone without mom and dad. Well…He absolutely loves it! The teachers are warm, friendly, and nurturing. The Preschool itself is well organized and very clean! The first day he came home saying the names of his teachers and his new friends. The cooperative model makes you feel even more connected to the school and the community of parents. There are alumni of parents who have come back to volunteer after their own kids have left the program which just speaks to the amazing community that this preschool fosters. Highly recommend.

We moved to Toronto just under a year ago (from the UK) and I found it super hard to find a nursery where I felt comfortable leaving my son. I visited so many different nurseries around the city that filled me with dread. As soon as I stepped foot into BCP I knew it was perfect for us. We love the large classroom (full of fantastic activities and toys) and outdoor space. It’s safe and clean. But most of all we love the teachers and the community that is the heart of the school.

This was a great find for me and my daughter. The play-based curriculum fits perfectly with our family's belief in experiential learning. And the family-led separation and family participation was also important since we were new to the area, with no support system. Thus my daughter's attachment was very strong and a traditional drop-off would have been very difficult for us (and for any teachers involved). At the Coop, my daughter was able to gradually (and quicker than I expected) get used to playing other people without me and now she barely notices when I drop her off!

We switched to BCP a few weeks into the school year last fall, from a more traditional" preschool. My daughter seemed to have quite a lot of trouble fitting in with the teachers/program at the other school

My daughter loves attending BCP. The teachers are amazing, loving and caring with all children. Being a part of the Executive team has shown me a lot of behind the scenes to how this amazing Co-Op Playschool works, and I cannot wait to send my youngest to this school.
