Sawmill Sid

I have been to Sid’s multiple times now and have used his wood for some unique projects, it is always an enjoyable experience and Sid is very helpful.

Sid and his mill are great! He was very friendly and helpful even though it was my first visit, and spent some time telling me about some slabs and what made them unique.The wood selection is terrific. Many different thicknesses and cut in ways to bring out natural features.I don’t see why I’d get wood from anywhere else.

Never have I ever been so pumped to hear the words “urban sawmill.”First off, Sawmill Sid is exactly what you’d love to find in any sawmill. It’s run by a couple of friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful guys, if you’re intimidated by a bunch of guys in a lumber yard, rest assured these guys are more like forestry workers who have a saw handy. They know the wood, they know how to cut it, they’re passionate about using real wood and it felt like they genuinely enjoyed helping us with our rando suburban DIY project.The price was great, I got a hefty live-edge slab for a mantle for $100+ tax, and they take Square so any debit or credit works. But my favourite part was that all of the wood comes from within the city, all of these beautiful logs are trees in the city that had to be cut down for whatever reason. So it’s local, well-priced, and cut by professionals who care. What’s more to love? Next time I need some logs for stools around a backyard campfire, I know where I’m going.

What an amazing experience, we bought a beautiful beam from sawmill Sid it was reclaimed from Gooderham and worts distillery district.Very knowledgeable and such a great selection of beautiful wood for any project.Highly recommend, and definitely worth the walk through the large selection.So cool all the history of where the wood came from.We are using the beam for a mantle and can’t wait to install it. Sawmill Sid is where we go to purchase wood for our various projects and home based woodworking business. Sid is always so friendly, kind and knowledgeable, plus so wonderful with kids! Our young son is a junior woodworker, today we booked the Mill Your Own Slab event for him and he had so much fun operating the sawmill machine with Sid's help! He won't stop talking about it. We will be creating a table together for our home. Sawmill Sid is definitely my son's favourite place to go to with his dad every weekend or every other weekend. They have a variety of wood for all your projects and are way more affordable than big box stores - you won't need to go anywhere else. See you soon Sid and thanks for everything!!

What a great find via google! I visited several wood suppliers and could not locate that optimal cut of live edge for my hallway table. Sawmill Sid had the solution. And, the final selection was located in the lumber yard in less than 20 minutes! Fully impressed with the proficiency and professionalism I experienced. The white ash table is almost complete. They have absolutely anything and everything you would ever want.Awesome workers who are knowledgeable and actually care about their work? Check.Sustainably sourced wood that's just gorgeous and really pleasant to work with? Check.A very responsible owner who will treat you like a friend? Check.Whether you want to build a table, a cutting board, a coaster, you name it. Cookies, slabs, bowl blanks, they got it all, and if they don't you can always ask for it.Have extremely high expectations when coming to this sawmill and expect all those expectations to be fulfilled and then some.I personally sometimes just visit to see what they have in stock and just to chat. It's seriously a really amazing and great place to visit and ever since I learned of this sawmill I have never bothered getting my lumber from anywhere else.An added bonus is that everything happening in the lumberyard is sustainable, environmentally friendly and done with love. They even have a beehive for bees that lost their homes in tree harvesting.

Went to cut a cutting board that I should have had before Christmas. Got one for my BF made from elm and very heavy. Worth every penny. Very helpful and efficient. Very quick and very pleased. Thanks for your time

Headed to Sid's looking for materials for a Christmas project and left with so much more. Sid is knowledgeable, kind and a true institution in urban lumber in the GTA. Sid was incredibly helpful, both on the phone and in person, and went out of his way to share interesting information about his most recent projects. We will be returning to Sid for larger projects, but in the meantime wish to thank Sid for his kindness and generosity. Happy holidays Sid!
