It a the number one go to if you are a backpacker on the move and or very spiritual as this is the blessing to have this land on the island but a lot of people cant handle it but it's the most real thing there

The people there are Fantastic and it's Absolutely Amazing location. They have a public kitchen and hangout area that's outdoors. Good place to meet incredible people.

Never been hope to make it there on my road trip maybe tattoo some folks for my rent. Wish they had a way to contact. Nobody wants to Follow the yellow brick road all the way to the envelope City and find out that you can't get in unless you're Dorothy Gale from Kansas

About Poole's Land what I have to say are just good things, I went there about 3 years ago.. I met people from all over the world, bonfires every night, ppl playing different types of instruments, beach life, community lunches.... I think there is no place like that in BC.. missing all this!

It was fun but its been shut down by poor management and breaking city bylaws to many times. The end of a vancouver island staple. Dont go there you wont be allowed in.

For what we paid for camping here ($20 for two people), we could have gone to a real campground with hygiene and rules. I had lived at Poole's Land 25 years before (free rent in exchange for labour back then) and expected that 25 years would have given them time to build an idyllic eco-village. Instead, it's a dump where people sleep in (and urinate directly from!) derelict vehicles. There seems to be some shred of the old utopian community vibe left, but you have to be able to tolerate a lot of disgusting trash to find it.

I wanted to like Poole's land but there was just a really strong pee and poo smell. I feel like it could be so much more if there was more of a community commitment to hygiene but as is there are lots of parts which are just unpleasant, platforms you can't use due to extreme smell, etc.That said very cheap and a very cool idea.

Stayed 2 nights working on my van. The community was friendly and helpful and there were tools and knowledge available to me and my project. I participated in cooking one of the communal dinners that happen nightly and was delighted to find a fully equipped kitchen with Wi-Fi and outlets at my disposal. Something is always happening on the land and theres always somebody to chat to or go out with.I will be back after my next contract winds down. I felt safe and welcome the entirety of my stay. If you're a prissy flush toilet sort of person, this place isn't for you- that doesn't make it bad.
