Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan - HOOPP

On eight separate occasions, I called the 1-800 number for assistance in recovering my password for HOOPP Connect. On each occasion, I heard the message all of our representatives are assisting other callers.

When calling hoop make sure you call and speak to 3 different people to confirm all information given. Because there seems to be some sketchy actions going on at hoop not sure if it's tax fraud or what.I called in in roughly September to have my pension release package sent and was told they would not be sending me a new one as the previous 1 was still valid to the end of the year. I have submitted the package only to find out now a month later 2 months later that it actually isn't valid and I was lied to you by the hoop employee on the phone. The same hoop employee also told me that I could spend my time signing up for hoop connect to get the same pension released but after doing so there is no option for that on the program.I find it very suspicious that I was told by package was good to the end of the year however upon submission I was told that they would have to release my package and it would take 4 to 6 weeks to reach me causing me to not be able to submit my pension until the following year. This is what makes me feel like there's some sort of weird sketchy tax fraud business going on.

If I could leave 0 stars here, I would. Getting my money and interest after leaving my healthcare job took over 7 months from the time that I sent initial paperwork. It also took four attempts sending various paperwork because every time I phoned, I received different information from each representative regarding my options and what was needed. It is glaringly clear that customer service representatives are not trained consistently nor do they have a necessary grasp on HOOPP’s own processes come termination of an account. Furthermore, of all the representatives I spoke with throughout those months, only one was kind, though I found out later that he gave me incorrect information about forms required. All in all, this was a disaster and nightmare of an unprofessional, confusing process and I will avoid HOOPP in future. I see from other reviews that I’m not the only person who is extremely dissatisfied with the service and I would suggest thinking critically about the fact that the positive ratings here do not have any written reviews. Do not recommend.

This office creates needless amounts of work to handle routine administrative tasks.As a plan member you should be very concerned about the red tape that HOOPP creates to execute what should otherwise be straight forward processes.The customer service people seem to be agitated when on the phone, and their instructions for procedure are a collection of conflicting ideas with gaps in them.It took me almost 12 months of dealing with this office and their misguidance before finally appointing an agent to take over the file and see it through to the end.

I a m trying to secure my pension as I will retire in the New Year. I received a call on November 2, 2018, that my package was in the mail. Even with the rotating postal strike, I would have received by the 23rd of November.I received a call November 20, 2018 to use the website HOOPP CONNECT to access the application, print it out and rescan and send bye-mail. Since I work the same hours that HOOPP does , it is almost impossible to contact them. I am lucky if I get a lunch break for eating at work, much less make a phone call and sit on hold! In this time frame, I have had two separate illnesses, worked a hectic schedule and went for a much needed vacation. Now when I am ready to do this application on line, HOOPP CONNECT is shut down for maintenance!! No none is working in the office when this is happening!! This does not give me warm and fuzzies about this company and how they will handle my pension. Rather scarry. Maybe there needs to be a review how these processes are completed. Maybe time for new talent!!

My experience with the speaker of the seminars were informative and helpful who answered my questions. When there were questions that needed special personal assistant. She referred me to the specialist. The specialist called me back in 15minutes.( Even after office hour.) I want to give my heart felt thanks to all of them.

HOOPP had 90 days to pay out an excess dollar amount after a pension transfer. I called their 1-800 number multiple times over the 90 days to confirm when I would receive the pay out. Always friendly customer service never once could give a clear answer as to pay out date and still have not provided the pay out (on day 101). You owe me - pay up!

I received an email message from HOOPP to advise me that my T4A was available for download and I retrieved it.Then, you sent me a paper copy of my T4A. I don't need a paper copy if I'm able to download the same document.Surely members' profiles can be set up to identify their preference for e-version or paper version of their T4A.Save the $ and invest it in our pensions!

There's huge variability in their members services staff. Senior staff I have dealt with are helpful and courteous, but junior staff have been condescending and rude. They don't consider their members best interest when it comes to resolving issues. Hoopp should really consider reassessing ways to better communicate and engage their members.

My experience with this company has been a stressful, disheartening, uphill battle. I initially deferred my pension in June 2019.The total RPP Commuted Value was $247,006.32.In February 2022, I called HOOPP and requested the locked in funds to be transferred. HOOPP has decreased the lock in funds significantly. Overall they took $39,583.33. HOOPP do not have any regard for policy holder's livelihood and will leave you desolate.
