Wellbeings Pain Management and Dependency Clinic
Before Wellbeings I tried 3 different clinics in downtown Hamilton staying for 2 to 3 years at each. The things that I experienced during my time with them makes me appreciate having Wellbeings as my clinic now. No clinic is perfect but at least Wellbeings trys to keep improving. And over the years I've watched them implement strategies for improving the quality of the environment to improve everyone's experience there. I've also been helped personally by the owner on a few occasions ranging from her answering my call during their closed hours on a weekend to help me fix a prescription mistake to having her listen to me while I was going through personal struggles and helping me get through it by speaking with the staff about what they can do to help me pull myself back up and get back on track. In all my time spent in those other clinics I never had anyone help me with any issues I had. That is why I've given Wellbeings 5 stars and that's why I recommend Wellbeings to anyone who needs help. Don't suffer in silence!

I found doctor was different frequently, they did not know my file and medical history, were going to treat me with meds that would exaserbate other existing medical conditions, were rushing due to patient lload. Overall, I felt this was more about business then the patient.

Very slow, dawn the receptionist doesn’t care about getting your prescription out. There have been many days I have waited 2-3 hours for my prescription just to be sent to my pharmacy. They are a joke and if I didn’t need this medicine I would never come here again. I’ve waited two hours in the pharmacy to get my prescription and they sent the week before. They are disorganized, they are unprofessional (dawn don’t hang up on a customer when YOU MESSED UP) honestly I hate coming to this doctors office because they treat me like a customer not a patient. They really need to think about re-staffing

I purchased the medication lock box on-line and I was worried I wouldn’t receive it in time to put my Mom’s blister packs in it so I emailed the company to find out if I could pick it up the next day.The next morning I had a delivery from Peggi Shepherd, the President of the company. She actually hand delivered the lock box to my door. That was the best service I’ve received in years. Peggi also passed along some helpful information and let me know if I was not satisfied with the size of the box to let her know and she would replace it at no additional cost!I brought the box to my Mom’s and her Personal Support Worker was extremely happy with the lock box. With the PSW opening the box daily and distributing my Mom’s prescriptions for the day it will prevent my Mom from over medicating herself. This will allow my Mom to stay in her home and live a more independent life. Thanks so much Peggi!Delyn

I honestly can't say enough about this clinic. Everyone there genuinely cares about you and don't treat you like an addict. They understand that this could be your mother, your sister or your daughter. They make you feel like a decent person who got caught up in a terrible and unfortunate disease. I love going here, we've shared laughs every visit and if I was ever going through a difficult time, everyone from the receptionist to the doctor to the owner took the time to listen when I needed it the most. The owner Peggy is one of the most special people I've ever met. I'll always remember a conversation her and I had a few years ago. She was talking about their funding was about to be cut again. She funds this clinic out of her own pocket so they can continue to help people who truly need their help. I realized then how much she really cares about every single patient. That even goes for the disgruntled and belligerent few that have come through their doors. I've witnessed a few times when they would scream, swear and verbally abuse the staff, who always kept their cool.I can never thank every single person that works/worked there enough, I hope you all know how appreciated, special and truly needed you really are.Thank you for caring so much when I felt like no one else did.

don't do it under most circumstances!! Travel an inconvenient distance, if necessary, to avoid this 'pain / dependency' clinic. If you are in danger of relapse and can not get to another provider, then MAYBE consider the shortest of interactions with these financially motivated, above all, individuals.Went to this clinic for 5 years (about), had a perfect record of recovery for 7 years (not a single failed sample or hiccup in medication adherence). All the ethical doctors left very quickly and as a result, I can't even remember how many different doctors I had in that time frame. With each new doctor came a reset in my perceived progress as they seemed too busy or uninterested in simply reviewing my records to date.As just ONE example of the treatment you can expect -- after nearly 5 years of perfect sample history, they claimed that my test revealed I was over hydrating to flush my system of any trace of drug use. I, of course, was not and questioned them about their test accuracy or validity, to be met only with further accusation and condemnation. Clearly, this is the kind of discernment and logical ability you would expect from a robot or programmatic provider, NOT A HUMAN. With the slightest of insight into my past history, I should have been given the benefit of the doubt and the test validity should have been suspect. Of course and at a later time that day, I got a semi-apologetic phone call that informed me what I already knew -- the test batch was adulterated in some way and most people were failing that day. Now imagine how someone who is struggling to deal with dependency issues would be treated? That is just one story... I have a number of others which reveal a clear lack of ethical guidance, discernment and robotic affect toward 'rule adherence' but only, regarding the rules which benefit their financial goals. If you want to be treated as a cog, this is the factory to provide you that experience.I'm a computer engineer of 30+ years and have the requisite strong background in science, research and the ability to learn new information, adopt it and practice those new information based skills. Today I'm at a minimum pain level without pharmacological assistance through ABSOLUTELY NOTHING provided by this clinic -- based entirely on my motivation to achieve this goal and inherent personal skills, period. Not everyone is as fortunate as I am and clinics are SUPPOSED to provide assistance to those people, specifically -- not this one. This fish is rotting from the head down and staff turnover is a CLEAR indicator of that fact; along with, the MANY other stories I could provide that are outside of the scope of this review!!So why did I stay for so long, you might be wondering? Again, I'm not a chronic pain sufferer that struggles to 'stay with a healthy program of management' and they provided the minimum requisite service I required. Now that I'm LESS (not completely) in need of this service, I'm outta there! Save yourself the frustration; especially, if your needs are high.

I appreciate Peggy opening this place initially. I do believe her heart was in the right place.I do not appreciate waking up choking from my own vomit and being so extremely dehydrated I am unable to open my eyes.First you called this place a Pain Clinic. Then you recently changed the name to Pain Management and dependency clinic. You may as well start calling it an addictions clinic. Why not cut to the chase. If Anyone witnessed the way Doctor Purdell Lewis talks to me, they would agree that he should not be practising medicine. Guaranteed. I will be reporting him to the College of physicians and surgeons of Ontario. Although he is retiring in a month so a lot of good that’s going to do. When you get your license to practice medicine in Ontario you have to swear to uphold the Hippocratic oath. By his willingness to only prescribe a specific medication to me on an continuous basis that is likely to cause physical harm in many ways to myself is against the Hippocratic oath. When I point out the contraindications to the doctor, he just ignored me. 100%. It’s like talking to the wall. I would not recommend this place anymore unfortunately. I really tried to appreciate the efforts put in here however the end result has been catastrophic for myself. I Do not believe that the government is not allowing the doctor to treat me more appropriately. The book in the photo however is good for someone new to chronic pain. Good luck to everyone.

Very friendly staff, always in and out within half the time of most other clinics..I've been to alot of other pain management clinics in the past, Wellbeings is the cleanest, most professional, reliable clinic I have been to in my years of needing pain management
