Overall experience was disappointing. Managers were amazing, the hostess and our waitress were not. Our entrees were forgotten about (which I believe resulted in the raw scallops mentioned below) and our entire experience took about 2 hours. The crab in a jar was delicious. The salmon carpaccio was a little too fishy. The scallop risotto was very salty and under cooked (especially the raw scallops). The lobster fettuccine was good. The cheesecake was great too. The restaurant decor is beautiful and clean. Probably wouldn't come back, but we still love Modern Steak!

Such a wonderful place to dine in...Loved the food and the drinks ...Everything we ordered was flavorful, be it the Oysters or the Creme Brule...The staff is pretty good too...Ambience could be better..Overall, had such a great experience..Must try!!!

Food was decent. Sable fish was fresh and tasty. Ahi tuna was somewhat tough but that’s to be expected being this far from where it’s sourced. Both dishes are spicy which is fine for my tastes. I would give the tuna a 6/10 and the sable fish a 7/10. Servers have mostly discontinued their mask use. The only real complaint I have is that the restaurant does not have a change table in either washroom, and this being a downtown location - it would be problematic if you were out with an infant. We had to change our little one in the car (good thing we drove).

We changed the reservation twice, and they were amazing to do the changes we were met at the door with extremely polite people not stuffy. The food was absolutely amazing in the service could not be beat.

Food, service and experience were good! Our server was really nice. The drinks arrived after the appetisers and asked immediately for a glass of wine that arrived when we finished the appetisers. Which was a bit of a bummer. But I don't think we can blame our server as it looked like she had to make all the drinks herself and serve tables. Other than that the food was great and our server really nice and helpful. The scallop risotto was really good, can recommend that!

What a wonderful way to get impressed on our annieversary. My bf took me to this place that had the best food and service. The server-Marina made our experience 10 times better. The appies and entre were toi good. You must order crab in the jar and the octopus. The rib eye is so tender that it will melt in ur mouth. Make sure to save some space for a calamari though. When you go there ask for Marina!!

First time here. I’ve been to Modern Steak before and not sure how it’s different seeing as it’s the same restaurant. Maybe different menus? It’s been a long time so I don’t remember. The dinner in general was excellent! There were 5 of us and we shared 4 appies, the surf and turf platter and a sablefish entree. All the appies were tasty and enough for all of us to have some. My favorite appie was the warm crab dip. Huge buttery crab taste with lovely toasted baguette slices. The surf and turf platter had a little of everything. I say little but the prawns were huge! Almost the size of the palm of my hand. Very meaty and not over cooked. Nice! The accompanying sauces were nice too. The umami sauce was very tasty. We were SO full but still wanted a taste of dessert and the molten chocolate cake didn’t disappoint. It was the real deal molten center of chocolate ganache. Not undercooked batter like some places make. That’s just lazy and unacceptable. The bill wasn’t crazy either and service was excellent. Would definitely come back.

My wife and I went to Mondern Ocean for our anniversary dinner and we had a very enjoyable time. We rarely go to seafood restaurants because most of them overcook the seafood and/or cover it up with heavy sauces. Not so at Modern Ocean. We had the sable fish and the sea bream which were both prepared perfectly. There was a nice balance between spice, seasoning and just letting the seafood shine through. The service was excellent. Our server Emily made a good wine recommendation and was attentive and friendly. We definitely plan on dining here again.

Went for YYC Dining Experience tonight and had Emily as our server. She's served me a few times now and been outstanding every time. She has a knack for being at the table at the perfect time every time, not too often but I've never wanted for anything. She's honest, efficient, charming, funny and overall, just really great.The food was pretty awesome too. The dessert was pretty brutal but Emily picked up on us being dissatisfied with it and was kind enough to let us pick one off the regular menu and comp it. Her suggestion of the sticky toffee pudding was great. Not much point in going into further detail since today was the last day of this feature/preset menu but we'll definitely be back.
