Very serene. Good for meditation Beautiful idols of Lord Buddha. Very convenient approach by bus too. Must visit.

Welcoming and friendly people. I came for the Medicine Buddha ceremony and Intro to Buddhism talk. Excellent experience and felt deep peace meditating in the beautiful shrine room. Thank you to everyone at wonderful Thrangu!

I have previously posted on Thrangu Monastery. Interesting thing to do because it's not really a 'tourist destination'. Thrangu Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, Karma Kagyu lineage, where serious practitioners can go to learn about the Sacred Dharma and work towards their own liberation.What is liberation? It is no less than FREEDOM from the suffering that is part of our cyclic existence.The building, the Sacred Art are both beautiful. But what's really amazing is the personal contact with Lamas who have received transmissions of Sacred Dharma. Paths that can lead you back to your true nature.If you think this might be for you, go visit.

A great place to enter a retreat. COVID unfortunately, has recently curtailed their ability to hold retreats but I have enjoyed their Medicine Buddha and Chod retreats.

A wonderful place to be for learning about Buddism, meditation and practise meditation. I happened to drop in July 2, 2022 Saturday afternoon and attended a lecture given by an English speaking professeur on Introduction to Buddhism. What a great experience！ So peaceful, engaging and energizing! My elderly mother who does not understand at all English, she enjoyed thoroughly the whole session and went into deep meditative state. It is amazing! Thank you! Gratitude!

It was closed for the public, the day I visited. I was still entertained with all the answers, I was looking for. An English speaking lady staff was very helpful. As result, I am going back on July 27th. Will be regular. I am seeking meditation advice. I am sure I will learn, in times to come. Buddha bless! Anil

Dear ReadersThe members of the Steveston Buddhist Temple visited the Thrangu Temple on Sunday, Feb. 26. We had the opportunity of listening to the chanting conducted by the four monks, headed by the Rinpoche. Those familiar with the chant listened intently while some chanted along. It was an experience. We missed the prostration prior to the chanting. Those wishing to observe the rituals of another school of Buddhism are highly recommended to attend.The shrine, including the statue of the large Buddha, is very colorful. In fact were told that the shrine and statue were painted by their followers.A monk was very forthcoming in explaining the main features of Tibetan Buddhist, branch of Maha Yana Buddhism.Gratefully, Roy
