Such a great restaurant! It’s not everywhere you can find cuisine from the Jinxing region. We love this flavour which is so unique and spicy - lots of cumin and Sichuan peppers. We have been a few times over the years so decided to invest in the membership card as it’s worth it for us considering how often we go.Our favourites include the beef pancakes, lamb & cartilage skewers, xinjiang style stir-fried bone-in chicken w/ noodle (amazing chewy consistency) & the dry version with bone-in chicken w/ chilli peppers, spicy chicken cartilage, wood ear mushroom, thinly sliced potatoes in a sour vinaigrette, beef with noodles (forget which kind).Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves flavourful food!

This place makes authentic halal Chinese food. I’m not talking about Hakka food I’m talking about legit Chinese food. To put this into perspective, The menu is written in Cantonese as well as EnglishLots of seating, very well lit up even though from the outside, it doesn’t look that great I had the way to order. The food is from filling out a piece of paper and submitting it to a waitress who takes your order.Really like the crispy beef and my only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that you have to order steamed rice on the side as opposed to getting it with a dish

One of the better Chinese restaurants I've had in Toronto. Large menu with lots of unique authentic dishes. Lamb kabab skewers, fried rices and the various noodle dishes were great.

The first few times I ate here was fantastic (pre-covid). The portion and price was phenomenal and the taste was incredible. I ordered the lamb with chili pepper and rice and it was about $8.99 and enough food to fill my belly and then some. The dish was littered with green peppers which I soon learned were actually jalapenos and the dish took on another level of flavor with the lamb, cumin, and peppers. It was incredible and I came back 2-3 times and ordered the exact same thing.Fast forward to my latest try last week (2023).. the portions had shrunk significantly and the price was $14.99. Understandable since food prices have gone up in 2023 but the portion shrinkage was disappointing. I expected to leave the restaurant stuffed, but instead I left it still hungry. You can see in the photo there is almost as much pepper as lamb, and it's a really small portion. In 2019 the meat and pepper portion was double this.Really disappointed and I won't be coming back. Small rice dish like this cannot be $15.I will say that if you're a person who needs Halal, and understanding how rare it is to find Halal in Chinatown, this is a solid option. But for me with all the options in Chinatown, this one is just not great.

The food is authentic and a little pricy without the membership. The membership is offered $20 for 2 years. The service is where I would deduct a star at this location. A little bit more friendliness is recommended.

This place also has a location in Markham called “Xin Jang Restaurant”, both serving halal Uyghur cuisine and a few other dishes from around China. They have a variety of lamb, beef, chicken, seafood and vegetarian options, all halal. My favorite is their Xinjang pulled noodles with chicken, they are so chewy and each noodle is so long that you get scissors to cut them. The vegetables are always cooked perfectly and the chicken is flavourful. I also enjoyed the lamb kebabs, even as someone who isn’t a fan of lamb. The spices and flavours in the kebabs make for a unique taste. If you end up enjoying the food and know you’ll be a returning customer, make sure to ask about their membership. For a membership fee, you get very good discounts on all future visits. It’s definitely worth it.

Food 2.5/5.Customer Service 3/5.BBQ lamb and chicken were dry and poor in taste. Cauliflower and beef was cooked in a special Chinese sauce which was heavy and dominated taste of the food themselves. Also, the food was over fried. Pan fried dumplings were okay. BBQ Lamb Ribs was the best out of all we had. Though the ribs were not backed in fat and meat, but taste wise it’s the best.

Happy to see so many halal options in this area. But that being said, they do sell beer (in bottles and on tap) so go at your own discretion if you try to avoid non-halal places. We got a table right away even though it was a busy Saturday night. There’s not much space so expect to have people knock into your chair if you’re sitting at one of the tables. The waitresses are not very personable- they hand you one menu for the whole table and also a paper menu with a pen to check off what you want to order. Their understanding of English is not great (which is okay) but it was hard to communicate and ask for what to order for my daughter due to the language barrier. Not the end of the world. They don’t take credit cards- only debit or cash. But you can use Apple Pay if you don’t have either. They also add gratuity automatically so it’s no wonder they don’t care about their service lolFood was okay even though they got my daughter’s order wrong.(we asked for thin noddles with a sweet sauce and we got these fat round chewy noodles with a spicy chili sauce) The sweet and sour chicken was tasty and fresh!

I have had all kinds of cuisines - most often Asian. I can honestly say that I've never had anything as good as the food from Magical Taste of China. The service was good, the price was reasonable, and the place had a decent vibe. Even if it didn't, I would totally be back for the food.I ordered lamb and beef kabobs, Special stir fried BBQ lamb, Braised beef noodle soup, and the Special lamb rib roast. Each dish was full of flavor and satisfying. This will definitely be a go-to of mine whenever I'm in Toronto.

Try this Chinese Halal restaurant in Downtown. The ambiance, food and staff were nice. Enjoyed the dishes and will visit again to try more from the menu.
