Urban Abbey

The Habit coffee shop is run by volunteers. All sales go directly to the ministries of the Abbey.They have a Dementia Cafe on certain Sundays for people with dementia and their caregivers. They provide meals to the community on Saturday evenings. The sanctuary is in use Sunday mornings for worship, but is open to the community to use. I have attended concerts put on by the Symphony orchestra, Celtic music, worship music, and a wedding.There is a prayer tower that has a beautiful view of the city, where you can go to meet with God and pray.The Urban Abbey also sponsors other community endeavors to build up and encourage those who come through their doors.

Very open to all, not just Christians. This is mostly volunteer-run, with a few permanent workers only. They provide housing in multiple locations of Thunder Bay, and in the Abbey itself is a women's shelter.I like meditating in the prayer tower. Lots of interesting folx eat at their table for lunch time and I've enjoyed interacting with people from all walks of life there.Coffee quality is tied for 2nd in terms of taste city wide. I won't say who is #1, or who it is tied with. They get fresh beans from a Canadian company, JJ Bean.

This is a Church whose vision is to reflect the face of Jesus.They are very hospitable and even have a reception. They are opening up a bakery and coffee shop. I had the privilege to be a vendor at a Craft Market at the Urban Abby a few weeks ago. It was my best market ever.

Beautiful building with excellent tea, made with care. Worth traveling just to experience a beautiful building in a beautiful place.

The people of the Abbey care for all who come in, no matter what life circumstance you are in. This is a family of hospitality that seeks to reflect the face of Jesus through meals, conversations, and prayer. Make sure to pray with them in the beautiful Prayer Tower during one of their 6 simple prayer services.

Great coffee in a beautiful location. The stain glass filters light creates a very special ambiance.

Such a fantastic place to relax and hang out. Over the top coffee and baking. Not to mention the priceless service to community this group of people provide ❤️

Lovely place to relax with a nice hot beverage. The views from the top floor are amazing, as well as the stained glass. Loved my first visit!

Urban Abbey is doing free meals to those who are less fortunate.Great place if you want a quiet place to go and meditate. Prayer tower is beautiful. Lovely people here as well if you ever need someone to talk with.
