ABORIGINAL SHELTER VANCOUVER
When I was homeless, I would stay here a few times. The pros of this place are the accommodating and friendly staff, the decently proportioned meals, the general atmosphere of the place and the general availability of beds on most nights. The cons of this are the poor physical sleeping conditions, poor condition of the building itself, lack of laundry and showers, not being able to secure a bed if you work unless you manage to get on the worker's list, a sign up time that is way too early. All and all this place is a good place to stay the night and only the night. Not so great for long term stay unless you like sleeping on a one inch mat and do almost nothing with your day. I give 5 stars for most of the staff and the meals. 4 stars for the general atmosphere. 3.75 stars for the general availability of beds. 1 star for the physical conditions and lack of hygiene facilities. 3 stars overall.

Not a very warm building, didn't see a shower, and you must leave in the morning. At least the staff was friendly and there was food.

This place is proof that Aboriginals are often more generous and compassionate than Catholics towards all. Safe and welcome to both women and men, the staff genuinely care about your well-being.

Staff are great and seem to come from a trains based approach. It's a little weird that they have zero tolerance for anyone under the influence. This either contradicts or eliminates 90% of the homeless population. Otherwise it's safe and they do their absolute best in keeping things efficient.

Not bad for a shelter, one of the best in vancouver, it's clean and the clientelle is not the worst around here. If you ever find yourself stranded, it's your best alternative of them all.
