Leisure Island Houseboat Rentals

We just completed our first ever houseboat rental and first time on Lake Temagami. The houseboats from LI are not the sleekest vessels you see on the water, but they work very well. The craft was squeaky clean, well maintained, well equipped. Cruising around this beautiful (and huge) lake in your own snug cabin was an adventure beyond delight. We towed a canoe along to paddle the quiet bays and rivers. This week will be remembered as a life highlight. Mike, Gwen and staff are very friendly and helpful.Highly recommended.

Boats are so stable and pontoons are indestructible. Spotlessly clean and adorably cute in the water. Temagami is gorgeous! Going to be an annual event for us now!!

Have done this for the past two years. It's a fantastic new way to camp. There's numerous camp spots all over the lake you can tie up too. This year we were blessed with the appearance of a couple Bald eagles. Houseboats are well kept and clean. I highly recommend this experience!Thanks Mike and Gwen

It was an ideal getaway thanks to owners Mike and Gwen. The boat was ready ahead of time, we got briefed on the boat operation and on the map of the waterways, islands and campsites. The boat itself is very cozy and clean, the windows and doors are tight, so there were no mosquitoes or bugs inside despite the bug season. There are maps of the area with all buoys and shallow areas clearly marked. The heater is very powerful, it keeps the room at a comfortable temperature even when it is 5 degrees outside. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience renting from Leisure Island. We will definitely rent from them again.

Time proven house boat design, great for our family of 4. I was surprised the little 9.9hp (High Thrust) pushed it as quick as it did, it's still a slow house boat but it was a nice pace. I loved cooking steaks on the BBQ while we were motoring along. Usually I hate travelling and can't wait to get to a destination, but in the house boat you actually enjoy the drive". The overall set up is great from the houseboat with BBQ

Gwen and Mike were very hospitable and gave us amateur house boaters all the necessary instructions to have a great time. Even though the 9.9hp engine seems small it was surprisingly efficient and was great for navigating the shallow areas and rocks in the lake. Gwen gave us some great pointers and we found one of the most northern beaches as well as two hiking trails. Great way to spend Canada day, four adults fit comfortably and we’ll definitely be back. The mosquitos were especially friendly.

First time on a houseboat and had an awesome time! Clean and cozy, fit four adults perfectly. If you like camping and the water this is an awesome vacation spot!

From the moment we pulled in and were greeted by a friendly wave and big smiles from Mike and Gwen, we knew we had booked us a gem. Our check-in and boat orientation were swift, comprehensive and sprinkled with historical nuggets and colourful stories. Mike's knowledge of the lake and ability to make us comfortable were top-notch.The boats were clean, well-cared for and comfortable. You can tell this is a family that takes pride in their business. Mike even came out to give us a hand when we ran into technical difficulties on the water, pulling himself from his father's day festivities with a smile and a helping hand.In no time at all we were back up and running, taking in the clear, clean water, the views from High Rock and the well-maintained camp sites.10/10 would recommend, and we'll certainly be back.

A Journey, adventure you are camping in a houseboat. It is rural U will not have wifi or a shower U will need bug spray or netting in may and June and August.Bugs will eat I alive. Camp sites are not marked well map unless you know maps will be hard to leave . Leisure Island is a wonderful idea and what a ride. The owners are really nice houseboat is clean and has a toilet that flushes..over all it's a 5 star but I give it a four star because it could and should be tweak to make it better . But who am I to say better it's ur experience..ENJOY!!!

I worked on Lake Temagami from 1970-73 and love it.I wanted to take some family members out on the lake so they could get a feeling for how huge and how wild it actually is, as you don't get the idea by driving by on Hwy 11.We rented a pontoon boat from Leisure Island that was ideal - slow, comfortable and very quiet.It was the perfect swimming platform as well with a great ladder.The day on lake Temagami was the best day of the year for meThe folks at Leisure Island were helpful and accommodating and gave great advice as to where to go swimming.I would do this every summer.
