Where do I begin? My husband and I have gone for breakfast at The South-End Diner 2 weeks in a row now. Chef's food is amazing and the portion sizes are insane. Special shout out to our waiter who always serves with a smile. Best kept secret!

Got the vegetarian omelette with home cut fries and it was delicious. While I can keep raving about the food, the service itself was so homely and fun that it is worth visiting the place. My friends got the western sandwich (which is massive, please bring your appetite for this) and regular eggs and bacon/sausage and all were really full due to the quantity of food and the quality as well.This should be a must try if in Oshawa

I was actually going in for breakfast but decided to order the fish and chips (cod) and boy it was delicious. Batter was light and crisp, fries were fresh cut fries! I will definitely come back again!

*Edited*Aug 14/22 - 11/10, absolutely fantastic! Portion sizes are HUGE and the food is incredible, so fresh and so much flavour. You cant beat a handmade patty and fresh homecut fries. My husband got the 8oz burger and I got the 6 oz, both combos with fries and a pop all for 30$! The owner was superb and incredibly friendly! All around a great place with great prices. If I wasn't visiting from a different province I'd be a regular for sure!*Edited to add* Came back again today before we left the province. The owner was so friendly yet again and even remembered us from the other day and where we were from. Hubby got the Western Sandwich and it was almost as big as him, lol. I had the burger again because it was truly delicious. Do yourself a favor and seriously come visit! If not for the amazing food, the amazing owners :)

Amazingly good food! We tried this restaurant in Oct 2022 and had take-out. My husband had a cheeseburger and fries and I had the chicken souvlaki dinner. We both LOVED our food and the portion sizes were huge with a very reasonable price. We don’t live in Oshawa but had to go out to there for an appointment so we made sure to go back to South-End Diner to have our dinner. This time my husband tried the crunchy chicken clubhouse sandwich and it was huge with lots of amazingly delicious fresh cut French fries that were golden brown, crispy and not greasy at all. My plan was to try something different this time but I just couldn’t stay away from their fantastic souvlaki dinner. It’s a two dinner meal! I shared some with my husband, ate some myself and took some home. It was that generous of a serving- it was falling off my big dinner plate!We will continue to make this our go-to restaurant when we go to Oshawa as the owner/cook is so friendly and accommodating and he truly loves what he is doing. He feeds off of making his customers happy. When you eat his food, you can taste the love he puts into every dish that he makes. If you haven’t tried South-End Diner yet, you definitely need to go there. It is a small not fancy restaurant with a few tables but it is very clean and the food will have you going back there again and again. Delicious food, huge portions, great service and reasonable prices!

Great food (for an average price), and come in large portions. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, and really go above and beyond. We had the classic 3 egg breaky with homefries and rye (+ coffee) and a 16oz burger - all done to perfection. Gave atmosphere 4 stars as it appears to be coming together, but not quite completed.

The banana French toast was crazy good. I didn’t order a drink and while I was waiting for my friend to finish his food they brought me one anyway!They also gave my friend like 4 extra scrambled eggs when he opted out of his bacon side. Super friendly service and definitely am coming back soon!

Got a bacon cheese burger. Huge, good price and delicious! Fries were made fresh and the gravy was really good! Service was great and quick. We stopped here on the way to Kingston, right off the highway and way better than any onroute
