Consulate General of Portugal in Vancouver (By appointment only)

Terrible service. Every service requires an in person appointment (not very practical for residents of BC and AB that don't live anywhere near Vancouver), the consulate is only open half days, and appointments can only be booked at the beginning of each month, so if you need help before the next month, there are no options.

Literally does not make sense. Its a Portuguese consulate in vancouver and you would expect that there would be some degree of knowledge of english. Also there were two ladies that spent almost an hour on one case and they look like they were having personal conversations with her. I missed a lecture just to wait for an hour and be told to come back the following day. Not a fan. Seems utterly inefficient

You can call and leave multiple messages and no one ever returns your call very poor customer service. No on online appointments available, no call backs what a joke.

Daniela was great! She and her coworkers are really friendly and understanding. There were some issues with our application and she has done her best to help.

It seems almost impossible to make an appointment online. My advice is to just go there with your papers even if you don’t have an appointment. This is what I eventually did, even taking the risk to fly in from out of town. Be prepared to wait 2-3 hours but you will be served and they are very nice, calm and helpful. Payment by debit or cash only.

Excellent service! Kind, polite, courteous staff/officials. Quick courteous response to my email enquiry and submissions (next business day). Quick visa turnaround (2 weeks). Yummy traditional Pastel de Nata 2 blocks away at the West End Farmers Market at Robson Square after 2pm. Their Facebook page often puts out excellent information on useful language courses, technology events in Portugal and interesting information on Portugal and the EU.

Paula is the nicest and most helpful person whom I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with. But my advice is skip the phone calls & emails, they don’t work with those, stop wasting your time and come in person

I’ve applied for a Schengen visa two months ago because I have a trip planned for the beginning of July, so figured, I should get on it well in advance. I waited until the first business day of March, then first of April to book an appointment online (just following instructions on the website). Checked at midnight, then at 6am, at 12pm - no appointments available. Emails - no one responds to those, phone calls - please listen to our prerecorded messages and BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT ONLINE. When I finally went there to talk to someone and explain my situation, I was told that to book an appointment, I should've came in person months ago and that way, I would've had enough time to get a visa. So basically, it’s my fault that I read and followed instructions on their website. My trip is on July 1st, appointment that I was offered is on July 5th.

I know it’s impossible to book for an appointment online but I’ll promise you this, when you show up they will help you. I was in town for a different reasons and decided to pass by the consulate to submit my Schengen Visa and they were willing to help me nevertheless. Such nice people
