Choratour

I have attended two of Choratour's music theory classes. Nicole is patient and helped us understand the concepts by providing relevant musical examples. If you are looking for an introductory class, I recommend this as being a great place to start. Thank you Nicole!

Nicole teaches music theory with patience and humour, supported with clear texts and workbooks. Well worth the time and very reasonable price.

Sad that the tour was cancelled for 2020 due to Covid-19. But it has been postponed to July 2021, praying that things get settled before then.

Nicole is very organized, and always available if we had questions. Her written materials are very helpful and I enjoyed learning more about “the circle of fifths”. I completed Level A, and look forward to continuing with Level B.

I signed up for CMTC with three specific goals in mind: to understand more about harmony; to become a better sight-reader; and to have fun in the process. I was not disappointed in any of these.The course began at a basic level (scales, key signatures, counting ...), but very soon moved on to more sophisticated concepts (cadences, intervals, inversions ...) and, eventually, musical analysis. These can be applied to recognize patterns useful in sight-singing or piano. For each new concept, Nicole played us one or more examples from popular music of various genres. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she was always available to answer questions.As it happens, the course also came along at just the right time. It was the perfect antidote to pandemic isolation, allowing us to expand our musical education without actually singing in a choir. No matter how long the pandemic lasts, my time has been well spent and I will have some valuable skills and knowledge to show for it.

So happy I opened the door to understanding music through Choratour!The word « theory » provides a feeling of unknown and causes fear. It is quite the opposite actually! Amazing discoveries are waiting with Nicole who takes the time to reply to the questions of all, no matter if you are a beginner, or not. No matter if you are in a choir, play piano or ukulele, there are six weeks of exciting learning opportunities waiting for you! What impressed me the most was all the information right there in the famous circle of fifth! Also the pentatonic scale! I strongly recommend everyone to come discover this amazing thing called theory!Thank you Nicole!
