The Lakes Cottages & Restaurant

We have a seasonal lot here. Great community and lots to do with the kids. Located close to all the good beaches on the north shore and everything the Highlands has to offer.

Went on the go carts as we were passing by and there were 6 there. Paid for 6 as there was 3 adults and 4 kids. We doubled up the oldest with the youngest. But one wasn’t working and was not told this when we paid. No big deal… we will double up another as that would be more fun than having one person go after, and we just go get a refund….Well they don’t give refunds and “we could have just had someone go by themselves”. I don’t believe this is good customer service.

Food was great but not covid safe .... waitress had no mask while serving us and didn't wear one the whole time she walked around and served us. Makes me wonder if she even believed in washing her hands I can only hope she does.

My husband and I came from Ontario to The Lakes Campground and Restaurant for our 5th wedding anniversary. We highly recommend this place. The staff go above and beyond, the restaurant has excellent food. Very friendly campground. We will be going back next year. Thank you Michel & Agnes and staff.

Stopped here for lunch while cycling the Cabot trail. This was a very nice place to stop and grab a bite to eat. Had the fish and chips which were very good. The portions were very nice and quite filling.What was also nice was that they also had a gift shop / clothing shop as my jacket was not bright enough for the weather at the time which had lead to a few near misses. The jacket was a nice bright orange which cant be misses, the quality of the coat was good, it is water proof and wind resistant. Probably the best thing to get for cycling.So if you are out on the Cabot trail and forgot something, stop here, they will probably have what you are looking for.

The owners are extremely nice and incredibly helpful.Stayed here as a base camp for our motorcycle trip around the Cabot trail. Our campsite was large, level and wooded. Very good.Great meals in the restaurant, good portions.Wonderful location, beautiful scenery.Lots for kids/teenagers to do.I didn't stay in them, but the cabins they rent looked very nice and large.As you can tell from this review I was impressed with this campground and the people who run the facilities. I will be returning and recommending this location to anyone heading to this area.Thank you for our stay.

We went to The Lakes for a grad retreat and had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly, attentive, and if we needed anything they were only a phone call away. The cottages and bedrooms were very clean along with all cutlery and dishes. Proximity to Dancing Goat Cafe and the local Co-op is a bonus, but I highly recommend the on-site restaurant for some spectacular breakfast or lunch. One downside of the location is the slow internet and cell data speeds, but they can't be faulted for that. All in all I would definitely recommend The Lakes for anyone's Cape Breton getaway

My family and I were sitting to eat the ac was on my kids the whole time, they wouldn't give us another table or turn the ac down, then we orders mozzarella sticks and they don't specify that they are not mozzarella sticks they are wontons with cheese absolutely horrible spot to bring your family to eat.

Beautiful spot, Friendly people, lots to do (for a fee, which makes sense! Don't be foolish thinking the place pays for itself with smiles), The restaurant is amazing with good portions. A great group of seasonal campers and the cottages (with TV and bell fine) are literally 10 steps from the lake. Yes there are leeches but the place is called the lakes" not the ocean
