Hamilton/Burlington SPCA Dog Park

For a non-profit this group does not do much for cats, it fact dogs aswell, ONLY taking in easy to flip cases It use to be a proactive group, with minimum gov. support and rolled mountains and had doors revolving with volunteers and adoptions as they saved numerous pets: abandoned or surrendered. Now its just rejecting all surrenders, screens all creatures that arrive at there door. As in Easy to flip cases.. Wont help with hoards, leaving ALL the work on grass roots organizations, So disgusting... Employees are not friendly barely approachable and more often then not; hostile. Ten years ago, people here actually cared, now they are just lazy

Love this park! The other owners are so friendly.... and it’s a good size, not too big so you can’t see your pup, but with enough space for everyone to run around and not super crowded.Edit - lowered review as I had a couple incidents with unruly dogs and irresponsible owners. One owner, when I tried to get between his much larger dog and my small dog, started threatening me.

2 seperate areas. One open field fenced in and a forestry area on the other side.

I come here because it is a few minutes from home.It has huge potential.Size of both the park and fenced in trail are good. I find them to be large which is great for my Golden retriever.The park and trail could be maintained better in my opinion, but I understand that it’s easier said than done.The entrance to the park has a large mulch area. The rest is pretty much weeds (literally no grass). They do allow the weeds to grow pretty large in the summer ( doesn’t get cut often). I’m 5’9 and they grow to my knee’s at times. That would be my biggest complaint .There are picnic tables to sit , no shade structures.The park has a decent sized area of trees and shrubs my dog loves to explore- however I do believe it has ticks in the summer months.The trail is unique since it’s fenced in for dogs and is actually a good size. It isn’t short at all. There’s a small river throughout , the water moves. Similar to above, my only complaint would be that it isn’t kept as well as you would hope for. The trail is dirt/mud so wear boots in spring and fall ( it would be nice if the city out down stones or rocks). There are benches to sit on however they are overgrown with grass.There was a huge tree that was cut down and hasn’t been removed, so the sitting area is kind of ruined, a path was forged around it. One part of the trail isn’t accessible totally since the water goes through it and there jsnt alwsys something dry/sturdy to walk over. Wooden pallets put on the ground eventually don’t work to step over.People overall have been good. Either quiet or friendly, haven’t had any issues.

Dog park has some huge potential.Unfortunately some days it’s filled with extremely lazy dog owners. These people have no care in the world until you tell there dog to settle down. Then all of a sudden they think you’re the problem not their dog who bullying others. SPCA really should do a better job at managing the space.

Nice wide area, little dirty for lack of maintenance and winter but still ok

This place is amazing. The staff was so helpful with my family getting a dog. Susan helped me with the adoption process and it was so smooth and amazing. Our dog is happy at our home. Thanks to everyone at the SPCA

Dog parks are a great idea, but I found this one dirty as owners are not bagging their dog's poo. If you walk around the park, watch your step. Lots of large dogs, so if your dog is small you will need to supervise their interaction.

Big clean park with lots of room for off leash walks. 2 separate areas fenced in. One clear and the other wooded trails. But watch for pricker bushes and bring your own poop bags

Decent little dog park. Not overly large, entrance is at the back near the forested area. Park is not open to the public until noon as this park is used by the SPCA for rescue dogs. Has a small rock area but overall decent in size.
