Locals Barbershop

The guys at Locals Barbershop do a great job. John is consistent, competent, personable and unapologetically himself. I know that I’ll always leave there with a nice cut!

Have been once - easily the best haircut I've had in years. Challenging to get in sometimes as they've grown a strong reputation but they're expanding which has eased some of that up. Value checks out as well. It's a few steps up from what I'm used to, but not significantly more expensive. Great old-school vibe to the shop, good people working there.

Went to a Great Clips and they destroyed my hair. Just lopped off what I had, poor lines, and my hair length was uneven - pretty sure they didn't even check. Absolutely butchered me. I said that's it" and decided to try an ACTUAL barbershop that day to fix what had become my hair. I made an appointment at Locals that same day and managed to squeeze in an afternoon appointment. I got set up with my boy Cam and I briefly explained the situation (I also had a brunch banquet the next day to had some more stress on it). Because my hair was already so short (which does not look good on me) Cam didn't have much to work with. But the man knew what to do

After spending years in Grand Rapids searching for a good barber and barbershop, I finally found both. John is a terrific barber who cuts hair with precision and attentiveness to customer wishes. His attention to detail and authenticity also show in the style of his barbershop, furnished with mid-century barber chairs and actual Life magazines from the 60s. John is also very easy to talk to and his passion for his new business was refreshing. Finally, booking an appointment was seamless with his easy-to-use website and text message notifications. Great job, John, and I look forward to many haircuts in the years ahead.

After going to many different barbershops and being disappointed time and time again, this is the only barbershop that has never disappointed me. Fantastic and consistent haircuts along with a great atmosphere and very fair prices.

I went in a few weeks back and left looking like I went to Great Clips. I went back a couple weeks later to get it fixed and even said that I probably gave bad direction last time. I didn't have the exact words to tell the Good Charlotte fan with the clippers exactly how to fix it, so he gave me attitude.Literally any time I've gone in there and asked for an opinion on what might look good, I get attitude for not coming in with specific direction as if you're not trained to do this and do it well.I also got to watch the guys make fun of a guy who came in for a walk-in after they told him there wasn't time and sent him packing... all while sitting down eating a bag of chips.

I moved into the neighborhood and was happy to find a real old school" neighborhood barber shop ran by a great young guy

Cam was awesome ! Very nice and outgoing person, and the cut was extremely good! Definitely my best cut!

Very professional and friendly. Nice atmosphere. It's nice to have a barber nearby that knows how to do a flat top. Only difficultly is getting an appointment (which can only be done online) that I can make work with my crazy schedule. These guys must be getting a good reputation, because their appointment calendar fills quick!

John helps to make your time at Locals Barbershop a great experience! Professional, clean establishment. Haircuts are very well done and lack no attention to detail.
