had to call this morning regarding a Mother Goose and her offspring. A small Gosling was in our parking lot and the Mother was distressed. We call WRAof B.C. and they were very helpful but it took so long to get assistance because there are very few volunteers with the skills to handle these types of situations.I was so disturbed and disgusted to think that these wonderful people who do so much receive no funding or very little.I am contacting my MLA to find our how I can help to advocate for funding from the Provincial Government for this great service to our Province.

We watch two hummingbirds in our back yard going at it. Initially we thought they were mating but it turns out that wasn’t the case. My partner and I quickly rushed to the back yard to save the little guy that fell to the ground. We carefully picked him up and gently wrapped him in a tea town and placed him in a little shoe box. It was freezing out and his little tongue was starting to freeze. We spoon fed him lukewarm water to defrost his tongue which seemed to help then we began to spoon feed the poor little guy some sugar water. We then called wildlife rescue and left a message on the voicemail (this all happened on Boxing Day this Sunday). About 45mins later I got a call back and we were able to take Lionel in! (we named our hummingbird friend Lionel for whatever reason lol) anyways they were very friendly and happy to take him in just before the were closing up. I filled out an intake form and they gave us a case number if we wanted to follow up on him… which we definitely will! Thanks again for all that you do in your facility! Definitely appreciated :) fingers crossed for little Lionel to make a full recovery!

This baby goose I brought in was in good health and the only issue was some of its feathers wrapped around her leg. It took a lot to catch her as well. We took her in and they were wanting to put her in a bucket that clearly was too small. I said no it needs a box. After insisting they put her in the box. We told them we could have removed it ourselves but theought it might need some antibiotics. After checking on her in a couple days got a generic email saying the bird died. Why?? She was healthy! This is 100 percent failure of all the birds I have brought in. Not acceptable. I feel they just put them down as soon as they get there. If it had antibiotics it would take a few days to start working. I will think twice if I have find an injured bird again.

Don't usually write google reviews but had a very nice experience here. My roommate's cat dragged in what I think was a Junco yesterday evening, and I took it here 1st thing in the morning as it couldn't fly. The take in process was very smooth. I was helped by a younger lady (didn't get her name unfortunately) but she was very helpful and informative. They also gave me a case number to check up on the little guy in a couple of days. Fingers crossed that the bird makes it.

Gave them a call after a mum duck and about 10 ducklings got stuck in my back yard and then the neighbors back yard by going under the fence. Within hours they turned up early evening and relocated the duck family. Very happy how everything turned out.

I brought in a sweet and happy hummingbird in, trusting that they can take care of her. I never knew they actually put her down within 15 minute, saying that her wing is broken so there's no point keeping her since she can't go back to the wild. My hummingbird was life-loving, eating and playing before I brought her in. When I heard thank you for bringing her in so we can put her down"

Wow! The Wildlife Rescue Association is amazing! These people have so much compassion for wildlife. I brought in a pigeon that was run over by a car and they thanked me profusely and emailed me an update a week later. If you’re looking to support animals and wildlife in particular, this is the organization to donate to or get involved with.

I wish I could recommend this organization. Unfortunately, I feel like they make decisions for animals based on their own priorities rather than the animals themselves.I’ve brought several birds in with minor injuries and none have ever made it. Most recently, two young American robins. I had to keep these two for 24 hours. They were eating, pooping, and sleeping normally. I brought them in in great condition only be told the “animal’s conditions were beyond our ability to help and we are saddened to inform you that they have passed away”. It was a pretty automated response and, having rehabbed many birds of all ages myself, I don’t believe that they were beyond saving for a minute. My one wish is that I would have just kept this last sweet, healthy pair and rehabbed them myself. If you have *any* other option for rescue, exercise it. They will likely euthanize the birds you bring to them.

This morning we found a raven with an injured wing. Crows were swooping at it, and we live next to a busy road. We kept an eye on it for a few hours - when it was clear the bird was in distress and nothing was going to change, we decided to take action. While WRA didn't pick up the phone initially, their automated voice recording was very helpful with advice on what to do. We were able to capture the bird after a brief chase (took four adults armed with towels and a cat carrier). They called us back quickly afterwards, and confirmed we could bring the bird in even though it was getting close to their closing hours. We set the raven up in a uhaul box with some fleece, and took him in. Two members came out immediately and helped us out, even though we arrived a bit after they closed. They were welcoming and helpful, and we will definitely be checking in on the raven later.
