Charred Rotisserie House
I decided to try this chicken place. The portion was huge. I ordered a breast and wing with french fries and medium spice piri piri sauce.Unfortunately the chicken wasn’t fully cooked. It was pink at the wing. The skin was blackened however it lacked the crispy texture. The flavour of the chicken I could eat was good. Definitely could use more seasoning. The fries were shoestring type I prefer regular fries. They were a little limp. I believe it’s from the heat creating steam in the container. I have seen other takeout containers with a small hole to vent. The piri piri sauce was very disappointing. It was unsalted, and was very bland. It had zero flavour. I asked for medium piquant and the first taste had a little heat but I would personally call that mild.I do believe there is potential for much better food. Portuguese chicken takes a long time to cook properly. Most Portuguese places you need to order ahead due to this fact. You can’t rush quality.

This place is slowly becoming my go to for chicken rice and now soup. It’s great that they have halal option and I know for a fact that other people in my circle are also flocking here more. My favour item here is either the 45$ whole chosen with 3 sides to split with 3 people. They are generous with their portions the chicken tastes juicy and delicious and isn’t dry like other places. And did I mention the soup ? The large soup has excellent and I mean excellent generous portions of chicken. I like their spicy sauce which for once compared to other places is actually spicy. Really great place and loving it so far.

Good chicken. Not authentic Portuguese. It's their own version which is still good.

I have been eating at Charred since its very beginning on James St. Discovered this spot well before their expansion and fell in love with the Poutine and the Caesar salad. I have raved about the salad being amazing (not a salad person). However we ordered lunch today at work and along with myself, my coworkers who also love the salad were disappointed (to be kind). We completely understand the world today, inflation and costs of items understanding the price increase, but that should not impact the quality of food. The dressing was lack luster and not its usual delicious taste, the portion size was much smaller. I can eat a regular salad and be full, however this time it seemed half of previous portions. The only thing left for me is the poutine and I really hope that does not take a hit as well, or I will most likely never recommend Charred again and wont be a return customer, which makes me so sad.

My boyfriend and I wanted to go eat to another place on James st today but since it was closed we decided to go check “charred” out. Both of us ordered their famous chicken sandwiches with a side of fries.Sandwiches looked good tho to me the chicken smelled a little off but both of us finished our meals and went home.2 hours later both of us were experiencing severe food poisoning with all of the fun activities associated with it. Thank you for turning our Saturday into a fun day.

We stumbled on this restaurant because the one we had planned to go to was closed. We shared the mixed plate. The brisket was incredibly tender. We liked that each of us could choose a dipping sauce (mild to extra spicy). The cole slaw was really good, too and it was huge. Our waitress was lovely.

This has become one of my go-to places in Hamilton. I love getting a whole chicken - perfect for dinner now/lunch tomorrow. Sometimes I get a side or two, sometimes not - usually I just throw a salad together myself. But if I do get a side it's got to be the roasted potatoes! Love them!Prices are more than fair, all things considered. The star of the show is the chicken. Even after it's journey through an UberEats car, it arrives hot, tender, juicy, and flavourful. I love the charr on the skin, it's just perfect!Definitely my favourite chicken in all of Hamilton!

Barbecued chicken and fries. Does life get any better. Great food service and prices. Give them a try, and you will not be disappointed

The prices are way to high for the quality and quantity. A chicken Caesar salad is $23 plus tax and is the size of a side salad. The chicken was very dry and hard to chew. It came to almost $29 with tax for a salad and pop. I should have been full for that price. They could at least filled the container for that price!

Really tasty lunch! I had the Charred Chicken Sandwich with a house salad and my wife had the Brisket Sandwich with fries. The sandwich and side portions are not only delicious, they're also pretty generous. You'll probably need a takeaway box. Loved the decor. Great place for a bite to eat on James Street.
