Haida Heritage Centre
We didn't have enough time to go in the paid exhibits but Kay's Cafe was absolutely delicious and there's tons of fun stuff on the grounds to explore even if you don't go in. Enjoyed the carving shed and learning about the culinary traditions. Beautiful art in the gift shop too!

Great stop. Plan for a few hours here if you really want to soak it all up. I was thinking 45-1hr, but there is lots inside.

Big beautiful museum which also has a room for traveling exhibits. Give yourself at least 3 hours to see everything (I was told 1 hour was enough and had to come back a second time). Great way to start your trip on the island.

Haida Heritage Centre
This place is absolutely beautiful and informative. A must to visit if you’re in Haida Gwaii to learn about the history, the land and the people of this land. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately we missed the 11:00 guided tour by 30min but you can still walk around by yourself and learn. Hopefully my schedule allows me to go back another time for the guided tour. Invest a few hours there as it’s totally worth it. When you get your ticket, it’s a day pass so you can go in an out.

Haida Heritage Centre
You can spend an entire day here, and I did. The museum is very thoughtfully laid out and combines Haida oral history with modern science to explain what the Haida experienced over several millennia. The exhibits are divided into early history and origin story, post contact and conflict, and finally more modern life of the past two hundred years. This is a good place to enjoy the view of the ocean while having lunch. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

This place is extraordinarily beautiful. The artifacts and information provided for our enjoyment and education make this a must-do place to visit while in Skidegate, Haida Gwaii.

This is a beautiful and well organized facility, housing a wonderful collection indoors and out. There was a silversmith in residence creating beautiful pieces. The gift shop offers many fine options.
