Larry Wedgewood Scuba Instruction

I did my PADI open water scuba certification with Larry in anticipation of a trip to the Caribbean. I highly recommend him.Larry is a personable, expert, thoughtful, engaged, patient, and highly professional instructor and will delight you with tales of working in all parts of the the diving industry. Under his guidance I felt my skills, confidence, and fluency in the water grew quickly and I always felt safe and prepared for the next stage of my training.The training is amazing fun and Larry spent most of our time just getting me used to how things work underwater and practicing my buoyancy control and trim. Although we handily completed all the skills and theory needed for certification, we spent most of the time practicing how to actually dive. A session in the pool clumsily throwing a Nerf style underwater torpedo back and forth while keeping your balance is an investment that pays off!We did our pool dives at Grant MacEwan pool and our open water dives at Twin lake. Even in an Albertan lake in late October I felt warm and comfortable in a thick neoprene wetsuit.When the trip to the Caribbean came we had an amazing time. I felt safe, confident, relaxed and could really enjoy the experience. Now we are just so excited for the next time!If you were thinking of taking diving lessons and are looking for a great teacher with a personal touch you're on the right track with Larry.

Larry is an absolutely fantastic instructor! My husband and I had been thinking about taking some scuba diving instruction for our open water certification for many years and I am so glad we trained with Larry.Unlike other dive shops that have several students for each instructor, it was just my husband and I at each session. He was able to focus on which skills each of us needed to work on individually. He went over all the important concepts of diving in a way that was clear and easy to understand while sharing stories of all the experiences he had had diving all over the world! It was inspiring.Most of all, I appreciated how encouraging he was when something seemed scary. He made it easy to succeed at even the most daunting tasks! That’s saying a lot for a naturally nervous person like me. We finished our training just in time to enjoy a dive trip to Belize. Larry gave us the skills and confidence to feel comfortable on that very first trip and we are now hooked.
