We made reservation for 5:30pm and was seated quickly. The place was well lit,and it took waiters a bit of time to come to our table, but they were very nice and courteous taking our order. All the dishes came out quickly, dishes are well portioned, well presented and tasty. Would visit the place again.

Very quick service and the shortest wait time for food I've ever experienced at a sit down restaurant! We had a reservation and came on time, were seated immediately, ordered, and got all out food, ate, and was ready to ask for the bill within ~30 mins! The food was delicious though definitely on the pricier side for sushi in Calgary, but the quality justifies it. Was surprised to see Shaka shaka fries on their menu--I haven't really seen this offered outside of Japan and it's quite fun! The aburi salmon is tasty; the smoked creaminess is memorable. The sashimi was thick, flavourful, and melted in my mouth. Looking forward to trying more things off their menu.

We were told Ponshu was an excellent sushi restaurant, so we ordered takeout one night.The sushi was beautifully arranged despite having it to-go. You can see how nicely set they are in my pictures.We got both the Aburi Toro and Aburi Salmon, which were exceptional. While the other items were good, these were the standouts and what we would reorder in a heartbeat.

2nd time coming here. Tried their lunch specials. Great selection of entrees and dishes on the menu. Perfect portions with meticulous presentations of the food.

Went here for lunch yesterday during happy hour. Everything tasted fresh and I loved the fried oysters, haven't had them in a while. Good selection and overall the dishes are very authentic which made me so happy lol.

Adorable Japanese restaurant with quality food!The Truffle Ramen was to die for honestly, I’m a huge truffle fan and wasn’t expecting to taste much truffle in this dish but I was pleasantly surprised. This isn’t on their regular online menu but rather on a separate dine in menu they gave me when I stopped by.The sashimi was okay to me, didn’t taste fresh and the smoky taste was a little overwhelming.The tataki was a little expensive for the portion sizing.All the rolls I tried were amazing. I’d definitely order them again.

Cozy and friendly atmosphere. Food was really delicious and the sashimi was very fresh. Service was fast. Our favourite dish was the Beef Tataki. Would definitely come back!

I had been hearing how great this sushi place was and waited for the perfect time to do a pickup order with my wife. We are from Vancouver and I guess the sushi quality is a lot better there because honestly this was below my expectation. The Dynamite Roll was very disappointing because usually that roll is packed with lots of taste but this was bland. We paid $35 with 20% discount for pickup and still the amount and quality didn't justify how expensive this was. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but overall this did not live up to the 4 star reviews I see here and maybe if this had been half the price I could see to bump this up to 3 but I've had much better sushi for A LOTTTTT less so $35 is not worth it.

Everything is presented beautifully at Ponshu. The service is nice and friendly. The fish quality and cut is average, but perfectly adequate given the price point. It’s a good casual spot for sushi.The Sea of Japan ceviche dish presented so nicely in a glass and then dry ice was added table side.
