Easy to get a quote, and the appointment was scheduled at a time that met my needs. The staffer left the worksite cleaner than it was when he found it!

This is the second time I have used The Handy Force. Handy Force is not the cheapest but they are reliable, owner operated, and their estimates are usually spot on. I needed a ceiling and wall repaired after water damage. My initial call was returned same day. An estimator came out within a few days, and took the time to dialogue with me about the proposed ways to proceed with the repair. Norm completed the work on schedule, arriving as agreed both days. The repairs were done conscientiously and with attention to detail. The kitchen was left tidy and clean, with the ceiling and wall looking good as new! Thank you Paul, Justin and Norm for another positive experience.TIP: If you are using Handy Force for very small repairs, I suggest you wait until you have at least an hour of work to make it cost effective.

Can’t say enough about HandyForce and their talented and professional group. We undertook a massive renovation of flooring, stairs and a bathroom installation. The quote came in below any another. The workmanship was excellent. Staff showed up everyday, on time and communication was great. My only regret was they don’t have a location where we moved to after. Would highly recommend.

I highly recommend The HandyForce to anyone looking for responsive, reliable, highly quality, reasonably priced and professional repairs and renovations. We have used The HandyForce several times at my workplace; a residential building, including a recent more significant repair, and will continue to use their services for all our handyman needs for I hope years to come! 5 stars all the way!

What went well: We got a porch that meets our expectations and Handyforce staff were always kind, understanding and responsive.Overall, Handyforce was responsive but not proactive. Key issues: miscommunicating and delivering on when/how work would be performed, poor scheduling leading to rushing the job in afternoons, one instance of what I can only think of as 'cutting corners', lack of transparency.1.During the work order review meeting we discussed demolition and the use of our driveway for a bin to take away debris, temporary support of the roof above our porch using 'jack posts', handyforce's mantra of 'one guy, one job' presumably to ensure efficient delivery of a good final product and finally a line by line review of the work order (demolition, digging, footing, ground preparation, framing, decking, railing, stairs, posts etc. and the possibility that any finishing work could be included or surcharged for depending on work/labour required)2. On the first day of work and after asking, handyforce did not secure a bin for demolition. Multiple trips to the dump would have to be made over many days to discard the debris. Including days that demolition was paused due to rain, demolition took far longer than it would have taken, had a bin been secured.3. At the end of the first day of demolition, handyforce was prepared to leave the site with only one support post for the roof. I asked for another support to be created. It was created using metal pipe stored under the old porch and a pile of bricks. Neighbours and passersby did remark that the salvaged temporary support appeared unusual or unsafe. Following my ask on day one, Handyforce committed and did build a better support the next day.4. For the life of the project, work began, on average, at noon contrary to my understanding of handyforce's 'one guy, one job' mantra mentioned above. When asked to start earlier instead of responding that other jobs were being worked on by our carpenter in the morning, handyforce responded that work started in the afternoon 'to use the sun'.Handyforce poorly installed fence boards as decking (i.e. flooring) on our porch contrary to common sense and our work order (which required deck boards). When asked to correct the mistake handyforce corrected it. This this is the most egregious mistake by handyforce. Not only because I can only see this as cutting corners but it would have been unsafe and a risk to us should a delivery person, for example, fall through our porch.5. We requested a change to our work order (i.e. we wanted to fully enclose the porch instead of using lattice). We wanted to salvage the fence boards incorrectly installed as flooring. Handyforce agreed but wanted to charge us for the change despite reusing material mistakenly and poorly installed in the first place.6. Handyforce appeared prepared to leave dirt covering our front walkway in place and uneven contrary to our work order. When asked to resolve this, they did. Before the final phase of the project (i.e. stairs and railing). We asked to meet to confirm the plan before installation to meet our expectations. Stairs and stair railings were installed without this meeting.7. We asked for the stair railing to be replaced as it did not match the existing railing installed on the perimeter of the deck of the porch. Handyforce got additional material to complete the stair railings in line with our expectation and to match the other railings installed.8. To correct the stair railing, handyforce imposed an additional charge, for labour, less than and instead of the additional charge to correct the fence board issue noted above. We agreed and paid this additional charge. (note: handyforce did also install a door to a storage area beneath the porch and capped a post outside of the work order, which we appreciate.)9. Approximately one month since demolition, Handyforce did a final walk through to clean up the area and take the lattice back.10. Handyforce apologized for 'delays and hiccups' by email following final payment by us.

We called Paul to advise on a two-bedroom renovation that went terribly wrong. He listened to our concerns, evaluated the job and gave his honest opinion, even pointing out other errors to fix.Paul gave us his estimated time for completion, and he and his worker Norm completed everything on time. We are completely satisfied.Getting directly in touch with Paul at The Handy Force is highly recommended.
