Good selection of material in various species and formats. Back-end shop is very busy, so if you are looking for materials to be cut or prepped, better plan ahead.Very comprehensive selection of wood at reasonably competitive prices. If you can’t find what you want here, it is likely not available locally,

Honestly, the customer service was completely lack-there-of. There was a gentleman who made absolutely no effort to help or answer questions. When politely asking if they have time to help me with understanding which piece they would recommend for 'x' measurements they slid a tape measure at me. When asking if theres a specific hardwood (for thin cuts) that is better to withstand pressure, potential of being thrown etc they said I don't know what you mean

Very comprehensive and diverse selection, great quality products, and great prices. Their customer service is great, they go above and beyond. I've been going there weekly to stock up incrementally before I graduate and move home next year where quality, exotic hardwoods are no longer within a reasonable distance.

My first time here. The staff was very kind and helpful. Patient as I sifted for just the right piece of wood. They helped me load up in the car as I needed multiple trips.My cutting board are now a step above. Thanks Halifax Specialty Hardwoods!

The staff was not friendly, almost rude, in fact tried to get my husband to buy a piece of wood he wouldn't be able to use, making him feel awkward that he said he wouldn't and wanted a better piece. The washroom is disgustingly dirty and has been in the the same state for at least a year. He wouldn't recommend this place to anyone any more.

This place is like a live edge candy store! I've been systematically replacing all of the tables in our restaurant with their wood. It started with cherry, then black walnut, white oak, elm, Italian olive wood, and most recently African bubinga. It has become a bit of an obsession, with other plans for a live edge bar, counter tops, and additional seating for 45 as we double our square footage. Many thanks to Halifax Specialty Hardwoods for bringing so much beauty into our home and business. Every slab is truly one of a kind, and will last a lifetime :)

I've been shopping at HSH for years, since I started woodworking. The first few times I was in there I was pretty intimidated since I didn't really know what I was doing or looking for. The staff were helpful and gave me advice and freedom to browse without feeling pressured. They have a giant selection of hardwoods that are well organized and accessible. If you need mill work done call ahead and they can do that for you as well. Very happy with my experiences at HSH.

I’ve never had a project they couldn’t help with or a question they couldn’t answer. They know a lot about finishing as well, even though they don’t sell much of it. Prices are reasonable.
