Hotel Birks Montreal

Nice restaurant. Room's bathroom was good and the location is central. It is a solid hotel but definitely not at the same level as true 5-star places like Ritz Carlton/Four Seasons. I don't feel the service is very personable, and the public area of the hotel is a bit lacking (small seating area, no pool, small gym, etc). Bed was comfortable but not particularly high quality linens, and sound proofing could have been better too. Though front desk was helpful for providing basic information, there was no dedicated concierge and the information was not particularly insightful (no better than yourself doing a online search). Gym was closed for most of the stay and the hotel provided no alternative option but just a paper under the door. The spa was also not very attractive. “Garden room” will mean you face a wall and an alley, though my friend's room facing the church had an amazing view. So definitely ask about what the view is when booking. If price is right, I would stay here again; don’t expect this hotel to be a true 5-star hotel but it’s rather more like a solid 4-4.5 star level.

Well I wanted to say this was an amazing trip to Montréal to celebrate our anniversary and for the most part it was but the service was not 5 star. The most frustrating thing was that the first day we arrived we only had one washcloth is our bathroom. We had to keep asking for one and each time we asked we were told that it was coming. Finally on the third day they told us they were looking for them…really?!?! Where could the washcloths have gone?!? We have lots of towels and one lonely washcloth. Please make this make sense. There also were other things we asked for and had to ask several times before we received them. Not happy at all with their customer service especially when you consider their daily rates!

My fiancé and I spent 5 nights at the Birks. The entire staff was personable, friendly, helpful and sweet. Restaurant was divine, loved their Black Manhattan, and loved the area to shop in. For me, I value and put good service high at my priority list when I travel. We will come back!

We loved ALMOST everything about the suite that we stayed in (the Montreal terrace suite) for our one night.The good -Service was very attentive and professionalThe bed , linens and pillows were soooo comfortableNice sitting area separated off a bit from the bed area, with comfortable couch and chaiseSpacious, although the layout makes it feel a little less so2 TVs and they have build in chomecast so you can watch your streaming showsHuge terrace that with chaises that would be awesome in good weather (we had rain unfortunately)Location - very centrally locatedValet Parking was super convenientThe bathroom had a good shower and wonderful soaking tubThe BadBathroom has a huge sliding frosted glass door that opens into the bedroom. You can close it of course but if you want a private bathroom that your roomate wont hear your entire bathroom experience and all that it might encompass, this aint it! Also if you wake up in the middle of the night or early morning when your roomate is sleeping, the light from the bathroom will flood the bedroom. The only good thing about the sliding door is that you can soak in the tub for hours and watch bedroom TV. I didnt hate that!Bathroom - the toilet for some reason is jammed up against the wall even though the bathroom is a decent size. It makes it way less than convenient or comfortableRooms are kind of noisy, even on the 5th floor.Blackout curtains dont black out much because of how they are (mis)designedOne ice machine in the whole place and it wasnt working - and no one seemed aware of that issue. If you purport to be a 5 star hotel and charge for that, s*** should workIn room dining - you have to order off the full restaurant menu until 10pm. So if you are just wanting a sandwich or something lighter / less fancy you are out of luck. Doordash time! IMO the F&B dept is missing the boat on this one - who wants to order a fancy expensive meal and eat it in cramped hotel room instead of an elegant dining room. The 10pm menu looks good but should be moved up earlier

Really great hotel! We stayed at three 5 star hotels during this trip and hotel Birks was definitely the best one. True 5 star luxury, stunning lobby and restaurant, beautiful large rooms with extremely high ceilings. Small thoughtful details. And a huge plus is an awesome location. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience from the very first moment we stepped into the hotel!Amazing customer service, from the front desk ( and I spoke to a trainee), to the doorman, to the bell boy, to the waitress.I felt welcomed and at home.I chose room 505 because it has an open view on the square and huge panoramic rounded windows from ground to ceiling.Breakfast was exceptional and dinner absolutely memorable.The hotel is clean and perfectly located.My new reference in Montreal.

I stayed here with my family during the long weekend in Feb. My room was very clean. Beds, comforters, and pillows were comfy. The hotel has luxury brand shops in the lobby. The lobby bar was good to have a drink. Location was really good. We could walk to many places, and there are so many restaurants and shops around the hotel.

Very nice location. Just about as downtown as it gets. Not cheap, but a bit swanky. Very poor amenities. No combs or toothbrushes. Be warned.The desk clerk said room service was 24 hours, but when I called I got an answering machine. Though I left my room number, no one ever called back.I have to say all and all for what we paid, it's a bit disappointing. Seems like the least we could expect was the service we were told we could get.That being said it is very clean and well maintained. And the valet was simply excellent. I went on my ebike that evening, and he took in the parking got it all charged up for me during the night.Breakfast is à la carte" (not included and no buffet style) and costs average 27$ (Can.) per person.Our waiter was young but excessively professional and courteous. It's almost worth it for the experience. But do keep in mind there are tons of places to eat around that area."

Comfortable, clean, quiet, room prep could be a little better for 5 star (washcloth per person, more than one express coffee pod per person). Staff were pleasant and helpful. Very central to everything with a wide variety of well rated restaurants and eateries close by.

I have mixed feeling about my stay.My partner reserved the corner suite for a Saturday to Sunday stay. For the price paid and for the status of the hotel, we didn't expect to have paint peeling from the bathroom ceiling, garbage left on the large patio, and mismatched slippers. The large separators on the patio to separate the individual patios toppled over during the night. Other than that, the room itself was beautiful. It also included a Bluetooth speaker which was a fun surprise.I'd like to preface this next part by saying that the situation has been rectified, but no compensation/discount was made for the inconvenience: While our vehicle was left with valet, it was greatly damaged by an employee from Birks Hotel . It was a sour way to end our otherwise amazing weekend. The repair was paid for by the hotel, as was the courtesy vehicle for the 2 weeks it took to fix, but the situation unfortunately left a bad taste in our mouths and we'll likely not come back. There are other high end hotels in the downtown are that I would recommend instead.
