Swy-A-Lana Lagoon Fishing Pier
WOW! Absolutely gorgeous place to visit and highly recommended to all visitors to Vancouver Island! There was food trucks, a swimming beach, a bridge to cross or go under to collect shells, the pier was boasting with people crab fishing and watching the boats come and go. If you are looking for a good place to do photos, this is a perfect place!

I was there for a short time. I found it totally relaxing. But I ended up leaving early as the “cute and adorable” sea otter had more than its fair share of getting fattened up by boring holes the size of canon balls in both my traps. It ate so much chicken, that I’m sure it would’ve tasted like KFC itself!

Absolutely beautiful spot! Great place to watch for Eagles, Seals and Otters! Great spot to watch the sea planes too. Best place in Nanaimo!

If you're visiting Nanaimo, I recommend to go there and see how crab fishing works. Very interesting, plus a nice view all around you.

Swy-A-Lana Lagoon Fishing Pier
Last night (late October), the breeze was warm enough that I was comfy in a merino t-shirt until about 7pm But you'll usually want to bring along a light jacket spring or fall because the breeze from the ocean is a bit chilly. The waterfront walkway from the Harbour Master office all the way to Queen Elizabeth Promenade is wheelchair friendly.

This new dock offers a great fishing opportunity for individuals and families. Crab here are mostly Red Rock, and seem to be plentiful. Cool views of the Harbour Air planes as they pass by under 50 feet away. The local sealmakes this place poor for fishing with a rod. Crab were delicious! A+

Came here on a Saturday afternoon expecting large crowds...Park was nicely maintained with lots of grassy areas for picnics and some food trucksPlayground had some unique structures to play on - definitely more suitable for kids ages 6-10Checked out the pier too, and it wasn’t crowded either, fisherman seemed to have lots of luck that day (crabs)

Great place to go crabbing. There are always people here so don't expect to crab alone. That is one of the best parts though. It's a cool place to be a part of a crabbing community. Crabbing amongst other people doing the same thing and having the opportunity talk about technique and our catch. I've always had a great time there.

Great place to fish and catch crabs, and watch the float plane take off and land! watch out for the seagulls though, they fly by and poop on you without warning!
