Shushinkan Karate

Best Karate and even martial arts center in Windsor. Sensei Ali is fantastic! He has great quality in his character and teaching content. You'll quickly notice that he knows what he's teaching. The Dojo is clean, looks awesome, spacious and has good equipment. The members are all respectful and polite. You'll get a long quickly with them. Also, Goju-Ryu karate that is taught here is probably the most useful and practical self-defense training art there is. This Dojo is also accredited by the IOGKF, a world Karate organization. In conclusion; best Sensei and best martial art in one!

Training and teaching at Shushinkan Karate has been immensely influential on my character and personal growth. I joined the dojo family over ten years ago now. I started karate after watching my sister in Sensei Ali’s class at a local community centre and knew instantly it was something I needed to be a part of. Sensei Ali has not only taught me technique, kata, self-defence, etc, but he gave me opportunities and guided me to enhance my skills that transpose into every aspect of my life. Through karate, I learned self-discipline, perseverance and the value of hard work. I developed confidence in myself and my abilities and learned the importance of community and being a part of something greater than myself. I have developed communication skills through assisting and teaching that have enabled me to succeed in school activities, work and beyond. Sensei Ali and the dojo community have always been supportive and dedicated to my growth as a person and karate practitioner. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to train with top-ranking Senseis from around the world, compete at tournaments and grade for belts both here in Windsor and the Toronto area. The opportunities and training Shushinkan Karate provides are exceptional, but what makes it one of my favourite places to be is the people. We are truly a family. I highly encourage anyone interested to come train with us at Shushinkan Karate!

My kids (7 & 10) started karate lessons at Shushinkan, in 2018, and they absolutely love it! The dojo is family-friendly: very comfortable, warm and welcoming. The owner, Sensei Ali, is passionate about teaching true karate, with a focus on child development in line with training the mind & body. He truly cares about each student and their personal development. You feel the closeness of everyone who is part of the dojo: from the instructors to the students, and the families. Everyone cares about everyone. For adults, teens, and children, it's a wonderful place to learn karate and to grow as an individual. Highly recommend!

My brother and I have been training at Shushinkan for over 10 years now and all throughout my journey one thing has been apparent, this is not just a dojo, it's a family. Along with a hard working mindset and technical skills, I've also learned core values such as Discipline, Respect, Camaraderie, Confidence and Courage. I'm proud to say that Shushinkan Karate has transformed me into the person I am today. For the past 5 years I've had to honour of teaching classes myself and have loved to see the same transformation in other students as well. My son and I have been attending Shushinkan Karate for over 6 years. We’ve made many accomplishments and had some set backs that with help and guidance we defeated. I enjoy how every class is not always the same, how we find a challenge to every class and that we are encouraged to keep practicing even though we may feel we've had enough. Both my son and I have made many new friendships here and love that we treat each other as a family. Thank you Sensei Ali for making this a wonderful experience both of us.

The program at Shushinkan has made a world of difference with my son. Due to covid and the busy lives of our family my son spent way too much time in front of the TV or the computer. His concentration, imagination and motivation to stay active had diminished. He regressed in his behaviour and found it very difficult to listen. He would even throw himself on the floor when he didn't get his way.The strides my son has made just in the last 2 months has been nothing short of amazing. His teachers are so happy with the changes he is making, he is listening, participating and doing very good both academically and behaviorally. Kaleb has made the changes himself, he is the only one who can decide to change however Shushinkan Karate program was the driving force for him to want to change. I highly recommend this program to any child whether they struggle behaviourly or not.Thank you so much Shushinkan, we appreciate you.

My sister and I have been attending Shushinkan karate for about seven years now, and it has become an essential part of our everyday lives. Throughout my years attending this dojo, I have learned so much about the practice and developed many skills that I actively apply to my daily life. Sensai Ali has done a fantastic job guiding his students to become great karate practitioners and has challenged us to push ourselves mentally and physically. My journey at this dojo has built who I am today and has improved my confidence immensely. I started as a student and slowly developed enough skills to become a karate instructor and teach classes myself! I cannot imagine my life without Shushinkan karate and the Shushinkan karate family.
