Nice spot, love the area in Downtown. The Kev on Stage show was hilarious, me and my family had a great time. Only downside is that the seating was uncomfortable. Everybody was tightly packed in. Also, a staff member was rude to us once the show was over. We were trying to take a few photos with the stage in the background before we exited and we were being rushed.

Quite disappointed. My first visit was for a Tune Up Tuesday session, we were relocated to MusicTown due to a leak. I got to sit in a comfy couch so that was cool. I had a green tea drink from the bar which was decent. Comics were pretty good too.I then returned on that upcoming Friday for KevOnStage, which we were actually in comedy auditorium. The comedians were wonderful. The seating arrangement could definitely be better. Not ideal for serving guests, or even getting comfortable. It’s very cramped. The view was great though. Now the food and drinks? Honey…T R A S H. I definitely didn’t like that I ordered a top shelf Long Island and there wasn’t a hint of liquor in it. I spoke to one of the servers and I was informed that I was S.O.L. Because they premade the drinks for a faster serving experience. Baby I would’ve preferred to wait if that meant I’d have the drink I paid $14 for. Now if that drink was advertised as an Arnold Palmer, it would’ve been PERFECT. Margarita was WATER. I had the bbq wings which were fried waaaay to hard and barely even warm. The sauce was pretty good though. We also ordered the Italian grinder which was a poor excuse for a sub.I wanna give them another chance but I’ll come with a full stomach and a buzz from somewhere else.

In my opinion, this place is very small and unorganized. It's like the Spirit Airlines of venues. At the very end of the hockey town entrance, there was a small roped off area for folks to stand in line. You can't see it until you come into the area. There wasn't anyone at the door to let guests know this either, so when other people came in after us they wandered around before the guy standing behind the counter told them where to go. (Back through the doors because the door width of space at the last row of entry doors was the only area roped off for entering.) it would probably be a great idea to have a security guy, or anyone working there, standing at the entrance to hockey town to direct people where to go.My husband and I arrived early and were placed with two other people we'd never met before, who were the only two people in line before us. Maybe it’s the old lady in me, but if you say to arrive 30 minutes early, maybe let us sit down and get settled early? It’s probably help servers not feel as rushed to get everything out prior to the show beginning.Once the venue were ready to start seating people, someone finally came out, sat on the bar to fill his glass with beer, walked to the rope, moved the rope, and walked away. He didn't say anything, no greeting or follow me"

Had a great time (first and only so far) at the House of Comedy! Staff was great and the drinks were affordable and priced well. Yes, service was slow right at the start of the show, but I understand that likely they were just slammed with orders from everyone at once. On our second round of drinks, they came much faster. More food options would be nice.

Ordered food and our fries came out cold, the loaded tots were amazing though! Also wasn’t a fan of the MC and her vile jokes regarding abortion and birth defects. These types of joke cross the line for me, and I believe it set a weird vibe for the crowd as well.

The Detroit House of Comedy is a 300 person tiered, small theatre located in Downtown. There is easy access to the light rail steps away. They host comics from both regional and national levels. General admission so arrive early for better seating. They have wait staff that will bring you food, and drink. Tickets have as of 1/2023 $7+ surcharge whether you buy at home or at their box office.

The Corp that owns this place has six international locations. I assume that’s how they get the big names to come play this room, because it needs work. They need a modern, professionally engineered audio system and they really need more promotion because the room is always 30 or less people. I’ve always sat in the front row and cannot hear the comedians clearly. They blast severely distorted rap music and a weird video as a warm-up/opener. The waitstaff shows up to your table 50% of the time.

Came here a couple months ago and the service was good, show was great, just REALLY didn’t like the venue. Comedy clubs should be just as much about the ambiance as they are the show, yet the venue is floor-to-ceiling dark gray and blue, with no texture or decor whatsoever. Feels like it was designed to be a sports bar in a hospital. The menu was all chicken wings, and you order via QR code on your phone, which is highly impersonal. I get that it’s connected to Hockeytown so the sports part is maybe kind of intentional, but in my opinion sports bar vibes have no place in stand up comedy, and totally kill the mood.Really not trying to be a hater, but stand up comedy is so sacred to me and I just don’t want to see this place take over the Detroit comedy scene.
