Duncans Cove Trail
Great hiking spot. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and have clothing for a windy day. Saw seals sunning themselves on the rocks. Pleasant and mostly flat area for hiking. Caution near the sea as rogue waves appear unexpectedly and can sweep you out to sea quickly.

Great views and hiking here. Confusing trespassing signs at the entrance as there is a home on the left on the hill. Saw several seals in the water. Walk to the ocean can be a challenge for some, but there are more gradual paths through the wood. Sadly saw a recently deceased seal as well.

This is a great hike along the Nova Scotian cliffs that are rare to find in such a flat region of Nova Scotia (Halifax - Dartmouth). The hike itself is beautiful and a great hiking trail, beware that when wet the trails get very muddy and hard to traverse. Heavily recommended to have a map of the trail on hand since it’s very easy to get lose the trail. Another important note is to stop at the bunker at the end since beyond that point is private property.

A hidden gem of Halifax. Beautiful coastal hiking trail on a rocky terrain. I like this place to unwind and relax while watching the seals.

Duncans Cove Trail
Beautiful! Took about 3 hours spent total, 2 there because we were exploring and enjoying the view and 1 hour back because we were hungry.Bring water and snacks! Easy walking on the trail and easy enough to follow but better to stay in the main trail. Wear good shoes for hiking and bring layers since the wind can make it cold. Worth the trip! The first bay is Duncan’s cove and then there is duck reef and Eastern Cove which is the biggest, the end is Gill’s Cove where you can see the lighthouse and get some shield from the wind behind the bunker.

Extremely muddy and boggy when I did it early May, i would recommend avoiding the trailhead on the side of the road until later on in spring. I still had lots of fun, once you get to the old ww2 bunker it's smooth sailing. Great ocean views, definitely wear boots.

A must do!! One of our favourite hikes. You can go as far as you want and juat turn back. A bit tricky to find the start of the trail if you don't know (see my pics!). Once you park, take the first hard right past the pilons onto the gravel driveway. Even though it says private property, you can continue up the gravel road to the trailhead. About ~500m down the gravel road, there's a trail" sign and the trail starts on the right (see pic)."

Out and back 6 km trail to a WWII observation station. Made it a loop by walking along the shoreline rocks and than following the trail on the return. The terrain is a mix of coastal rock and marsh land, with a short old growth forested section. Found a couple of places along the trail to swim in the ocean and also climbed down some rock to relax in a tidal pool during high tide. Also, watched a group of seals bob their heads in and out of the water and found a carnivorous Purple Pitcher Plant.

We loved hiking this trail, though it took a bit to find and we were nervous given how people seemed unhappy with the attention that it brought to the area. So we tried to stick to the trail and it was amazing (though we didn’t have the best weather), but even with the fog, it was great!
