Took an ASL class here years ago, asked if they can send me a copy of my grade and they have NO records from anything further than 2013. Come on this is just awful!! Do not recommend this place for ASL classes best to go to Bob R school. I got my records within 30 mins.

Hearing aids can be returned for a refund within 90 days I was told at my first visit. At the second visit when I was ready to order I was told $390 would be deducted from any refund. Had I known I would not have wasted a half-day getting there, meeting the technician, and so on. It's as easy to say refund-less-$390 as it is to say refund. I felt baited. I hope the Canadian Hearing Society is more frank with others than it was with me.

My Mom has had great difficulty hearing phone conversations for a number of years now, even with a hearing aid. I called looking for a VCO phone, which I regretfully figured was the last step to take if she was ever going to talk on the phone again. (texting with a third party operator) I spoke with Alex and he suggested before going that route to try their Alto+ phone because it was much louder than the one Mom currently had. We ordered it and it arrived in 2 days....and what a godsend! My 80 yo mother can now hear conversations easily and clearly, and WITHOUT her hearing aid! So happy we called and a big thank you to Alex!!

The new streamlined" system is 3 steps backwards. One phone number for all CHS locations just simply means cutbacks. It was easier to call the Toronto location directly; now

I would not recommend the ASL classes at CHS. They are poorly administered and delivered, and there is no adequate follow-up when issues are brought up. It's really disappointing how little they seem to care for their students.

Be cautious if you need to bring your child here. We had brought our 3 year old on the recommendation of a speech therapist to make sure they were hearing sounds properly before being able to replicate the sounds. My wife and I had no reason to suspect any hearing problems. We had an appointment with Jamie, who seemed pleasant enough to deal with, but I was not impressed with his testing method. The instructions were explained to my kid with the ear buds already inserted (how could they hear?) - the instructions were very brief/rushed and I when I repeated the instructions to my child louder and slower to be clear, with them focusing on me - he questioned me on my child's ability to understand. After his tests it was explained to me that my child needed a hearing aid (after a 20 min test with no conclusive evidence) - he quickly directed us to the in house doctor that would set us on our way to purchasing one that very day. I hesitated, and was met with a pushy almost sales like approach. It seemed to me that they were only there to make a buck and not for the best interests of my kid.I asked the specifics of what my kid can and can't" hear

I was born hearing and I've been losing my hearing all my life and I am at the point where deafness is near and I'm caving into emerging myself into the deaf culture of things. With me finally reaching out to the deaf/hearing challenged communities and paying a visit to this location. I was/am shocked that it seems there are more hearing people working for this organization than hearing challenged/deaf.I think that the experience of the hearing challenged culture should start with the receptionist (yes deaf people can answer phones) and this organization should only be hiring hearing challenged/deaf people into their organization. How can one promote this community/population if the people backing it know less than my 13 year old hearing daughter does about the pro's and con's with dealing with the challenges we as hearing challenged/deaf people face.I honestly left the organization feeling like I know less than I did going into the organization and I am almost deaf LOLOff to Bob Rumble I go to see if they are any better than this place since I need to learn ASL and I do not want a hearing person teaching me!P.S. If you ever need a Deaf Mental Health Addiction Worker, let me know since I am almost deaf :) and I think this population could use a person like me.

I've seen Jamie twice over the years and he has been delightful, clear, open to questions, and not at all pushy with selling me musician earplugs. I was self-motivated to get them, and he made it easy and answered all of my questions. .

UPDATE: CHS reached out to me after seeing my review to understand what happened and I am happy with the conversations that occured and the resolution. I have changed the stars to reflect their response and appreciate that they reached out.Summary of Original Post: I signed my child up for the Basic Vocab for Youth Course and it was ok but class never ran the full time and there was an excessive amounts of breaks. I then thought give it one more chance with the 101 course and ended up dropping it after the first class as the teacher's set up made it hard to see her and the workbook required a DVD player to be able to do the exercises. I did not receive acknowledgement from the office when we withdrew from the course and was not impressed with the lack of communication.
