Avis Car Rental

UPDATE: I was contacted by corporate after posting this review and they reversed the fuel charge. Something that should have been dealt with quickly and simply by the desk agent who I called.I was lied to by the agent at the counter when dropping off my recent rental. After filling the car at the neighboring Shell gas station until the pump clicked off, I noticed that the gas gauge was slightly under full when I arrived at the airport. I mentioned this to the agent, showed him the picture of it and asked it I would be charged. If he had said yes I would have gone back out and filled the car again. I had lots of time before my flight. He looked at the picture of the gas gauge, assured me that it was fine, and told me that I would not be charged an extra fee. Later that day I received an invoice by email with a fuel charge of over $27! I called expecting that it would be simple to clear it up and the different agent I spoke to was rude and refused to reverse the charge. I understand that the car was slightly under filled. My issue is that the Avis staff member assured me that it was fine and that I would not be charged extra.

Booked car at Moncton Airport from Avis - be warned the desk closes early and no provision is made for late flights. I arrived and the desk was closed and I found myself stranded. Also I prebooked GPS and they don’t carry GPS! I picked up the car a day late and had no sat nav despite prebooking.

I rented cars from Avis twice in the past 2 months, first time at Fredericton airport for 4 days on June 11, 2022 at a total cost of $211.55. The second time was at Moncton airport for 4 days on August 28, 2022 at a total cost of $866.00 which was over 4 times what I paid in June. I even used the same discount code both times. How can a reputable company like Avis gouge their customers like this. The price in August was unbelievable and unacceptable!!!

Received the bill and then several hours later the bill was changed and included almost 2000 miles that I didn't drive and other miscellaneous fees. I had to call 3 different Avis reps to get this rectified.. will probably do a different car rental company or Turo in the future..

Ali looked after all my needs, and found my black leather gloves in the car before my flight. He went over and above. Very professional and everything was done efficiently and quickly so I could be on my way before dark. Ali is at the Moncton Airport and is an outstanding employee for you at Avis!

I've rented 28 cars this year to date nationwide. I have AVIS first status and can confidently say this AVIS location is the worst in a long time. The staff do not know what's in their fleet, the cars had dirty interiors which had clearly been smoked in, the milage mismatched their own records (my guess is staff use the cars between being rented out for coffee runs), they have no winter tires and will not allow you to trade into something else because of their limited turnaround volume. I don't expect service equivalent to Vancouver at a location like this, but compared to similar size locations like Kamloops, Lethbridge or Windsor, they rank last on my list.

The lady working at the alvis&budget doing her best to shut down the business. She is just making things worse, not helping the customers at all. Eventually, just sitting there all day for no good reason and doing less than bare minimum.

Decided to give Avis a try after using Budget at the airport. The lady I dealt with was quite pleasant to deal with. She told me my rental hadn’t been cleaned and asked if I wanted to wait another 15 minutes for my rental to be washed. I just wanted to be on my way so I said no. I had requested a vehicle with Sirius radio which I was willing to pay extra for. Sorry no vehicle’s available with Sirius. The price was ok and is always higher at the airport. My Camry was nice and even though it wasn’t clean was no big deal.Next time I’ll try Hertz.

Rented from the Moncton Airport location and could not have been more pleased with the overall experience. Staff was friendly and efficient and the car ran flawlessly. Returning the car was quick and easy.
